4:10pm And... this innings finally comes to an end. Sri Lanka made Bangladesh work very hard for each and every wicket. None of their batters made a hundred but they ensured that wickets did not fall in succession. In fact, the lowest partnership they had was for the last wicket (13 runs).
Karunaratne and Madushka set the tone early. Kusal Mendis, after a watchful start, then grew into his own, scoring 93. Chandimal, too, mustered a fifty-plus score before falling in the first session today. Then, de Silva and Mendis, like they did in Sylhet, piled on the misery for Bangladesh, ensuring that Sri Lanka got to a total in excess of 500.
Not a lot to shout home about for the hosts. Their bowlers lacked the consistency to keep posing questions and could not extract much out of the surface either. Shakib picked up three, with debutant Mahmud bagging two. Khaled and Mehidy popped up with a wicket apiece, while three wickets were run-outs.
Join us in about five minutes for Bangladesh's reply. They were well behind in this game but a positive start could make them believe that they can match Sri Lanka's first innings effort.

Field comes in. Bangladesh want Asitha on strike for the start of the next over
This is now the highest score a team has managed in a Test innings, with none of the batters crossing the three-figure mark. The previous best was India against NZ in November 1976.
