A 2-0 series lead for India leaves them with one more win to seal the series. Australia will hope Wade recovers well and that their bowlers hit their straps in Guwahati. See you then. Goodbye.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, POTM: It was really special for me, enjoyed today. I was trying to play all my shots, be fearless, take bowlers on. I was fully sure with my decisions. I have been told by Surya and VVS bhai to express myself. I always think of how I can improve myself around experienced players and nothing else. Still learning. [On his encounter with Ruturaj after the run out last game] It was my mistake. I went to him and said sorry. Stoinis was between me, I was sure but then not sure. I made the wrong call. I accepted that it was a mistake and it happens. Rutu bhai was humble and said in the gym that the next time we are running, we will take secure singles. I really worked on my fitness and play shots. I feel the mental stuff is more important in this level. Try to get better each and every day.
Suryakumar Yadav, India captain: The boys aren't putting too much pressure on me, they're taking responsibility. I told them before the toss to be prepared to bat first. There was a lot of dew after three overs, told the boys to back themselves. When I saw Rinku in the last game, the composure was brilliant. Today's effort too reminds us of everyone who's done this for India.
Andre Borovec, Australia coach comes on in place of Matthew Wade, who's recovering: If you look at the bowling, there was a fine line with execution. We weren't able to make inroads in the first six overs. In these conditions, the plans and intent is there and you don't have to miss by an awful lot. We're making the right decisions but aren't executing in the right moments.
Rinku Singh: (How to stay calm?) I bat in this number a lot so I am calm knowing this position. (What thinking goes on when bowlers are also experimenting in the death) I like to play each ball according to where it lands. I try to notice whether its a slower ball or fast ball, and I respond accordingly. (This dressing room) I am enjoying with everyone. Feeling good. (Your role?) Finishing only. I know I'll get 5-6 overs sometimes or maybe 2 overs sometimes. (How are you prepping?) That's exactly how I practice. As if I'm batting in the last five. That's what VVS sir has also told me to play in the nets."
10.45pm One thrilling David-Stoinis partnership aside, India bossed the game in all three departments. Bishnoi and Rinku share a hug before shaking hands with the umpires. Bishnoi and Axar were the main reason behind Australia's early jolts and then the pacers got their yorkers right enough number of times to cripple the visitors. Australia finish on 191/9, well short of the target.
The game, though, was set up by the batters. Jaiswal and Kishan crunched superfast fifties. Gaikwad was the glue. And Rinku brought the late fireworks. A great outing for india and personally I'm delighted for Thiruvananthapuram. They missed seeing India v England's warm-up at the World Cup due to rain. Today too there were concerns over the weather. But the rain stayed away, the crowd came in great numbers, and India produced an enjoyable win.
Raja Saha: "My POTM is Axar. Having 6 economy in a batting paradise is unbelievable."
one ball left. Crowd on its feet
Devanshu Nigam: "If there is so much confusion , I am ready to take POTM "
manohar: "CricInfo users right now: "United by team, divided by POTM""
Manish: "Not at all discounting the huge hitting by Rinku, but Jaiswal laid the foundation and put the Aus bowlers off track by his hitting upfront. So Jaiswal is my POTM."
Sarath : "Guys win/loss are part of game. It's fault on our side too, Indian fans taking wc trophy too much to the heart and putting pressure on players. So just enjoy the victories even they improves head to head records"
Aravind : "POTM should be PK. The only player who made the opposition go down onto their knee."
