England have called for the heavy roller. I've not seen any obvious signs of sharp turn today but Bashir didn't bowl particularly well and was used relatively sparingly. Wonder if Sri Lanka will go to Jayasuriya early in the chase... occasional low-bounce with the new ball has been a feature of this match. Back shortly for the fourth and final innings.

Mark: "There shouldn't be too many complaints this time about how quickly England removed 9, 10"

Gautam: "Whatever happens, SL have shown they are an excellent team. That said, I feel this is the time to step up even more and make it count. They currently have a nice mix of strong seniors and exciting young talents, but Mathews, Chandi and Dimuth won't be around forever. I hope the two home losses against Pakistan don't come back to bite them badly."

2.32pm: Potts finishes with 3 for 47 after an expensive first innings. Three for Woakes, two for Atkinson, one each for Root and Wood. Kamindu Mendis the star with his third Test hundred in only his fourth appearance, plus half-centuries for Mathews and Chandimal. Duckett and Lawrence jog off to get padded up for the chase. Should be an interesting one... you'd think this will probably be all over tonight one way or the other.

Potts to Chandimal, OUT, spooned to the sub fielder at deep cover! Fullish outside off, Chandimal looks to launch him back down the ground but can only slice it out into the off side. Harry Singh settles underneath it, and gets himself into a Test match scorebook... England need 205 to win

Matthew: "Oh dear. All that hard work being quickly undone."

Potts to Chandimal, FOUR, chipped over mid-off! In the slot, mid-off was halfway back, so Chandimal sat deep in his crease and lofted him over his head

Chandan: "Horrible Shot from Jayasuriya regarding the situation..." -- Agree with that... just needed to hang in there and support Chandimal.

Woakes to MVT Fernando, OUT, smashed on the knee roll, stone dead! Two reviews left so Vishwa might as well send it upstairs, and does. Looked very out... no inside edge as he prodded forward in defence. Hawk-Eye has it hitting leg stump, three-quarters of the way up, and England have their ninth

Potts to Jayasuriya, OUT, slashed to second slip, taken at the second attempt! Sri Lanka have lost two in quick succession. Fullish, a hint of width outside off stump. Jayasuriya went chasing after it and his thick outside edge flew to Brook in the cordon. He fluffed his first attempt, parrying the ball up, but reacted calmly to grab the second chance
