7:41pm So, New Zealand make their way up to 166, which on a surface that has looked a little two-paced, seems a good score. Chapman and Young led the way with fifties and when they were going strong, it seemed the Kiwis would breach the 175-run mark. They lost both in relatively quick succession, though and that took a bit of momentum out of their innings, until Santner popped up with an 11-ball 20 to take NZ past the 160-mark.

UAE, meanwhile, will be happy with how they pulled things back, especially considering how ominous it was looking when Chapman and Young were at the crease. Siddique was the star of the show, picking up three wickets. He could have had Santner too had DRS been in play (but that is a discussion for another day). Zahoor also held his nerve well at the end, alongside Jawadullah and they would fancy their chances of chasing this down.

At the half-way stage, both teams will be quietly pleased with where they are placed. NZ have runs on the board, UAE have good memories of chasing against this bowling attack. Which way will this game sway? Join us in a bit to find out!

Ahmed Raza, UAE assistant coach: (On the score) It is about a par score. This wicket has played better. Our bowlers did well to pull it back. (On the pitch) The bounce was a lot more consistent. Our fast bowlers did fantastically on that wicket. (On the batting plan) It is all about partnerships, knowing your roles, knowing your match-ups and playing less dot balls.

Zahoor Khan to Santner, SIX, yes he can! Low full toss on middle and leg stump. Santner gets down low, gets the requisite leverage and slams it over deep mid wicket!

Santner on strike. Can he finish with a boundary?

19.5
1b
Zahoor Khan to Ravindra, 1 bye, superb yorker that tails in late on leg stump. Ravindra swings at it and misses. Santner, though, is alert enough to sneak in a bye

Ravindra joins Santner. Can he find the fence in the two balls that remain?

Zahoor Khan to Foxcroft, OUT, soft dismissal! Another slower delivery dug into the track outside off. Foxcroft is again a week early into the stroke and mistimes it badly. The ball spoons up and Waseem does the rest at extra cover! Foxcroft never came to grips with Zahoor's variations!

Zahoor Khan to Foxcroft, no run, slow and short outside off. Foxcroft plays three strokes at it before missing with his fourth attempt (which is a cut). That. Was. Slow

1
Zahoor Khan to Santner, 1 run, full on off stump. Santner drills it straight to extra cover. Just a single. That might have come off the toe-end too
19.1
4
Zahoor Khan to Santner, FOUR, mistimes it completely but still gets four! Full just outside off. Santner has a massive swing at it and slices it terribly. The ball goes miles up, evades two fielders (extra cover and deep cover point) and bobbles into the fence as those two fielders come close to colliding on the boundary

Right. 154 on the board already. How many more can NZ get from here? Zahoor tasked with bowling the last over

1
Zahoor Khan to Foxcroft, 1 run, very full outside off. Foxcroft squeezes it out to backward point for a single

UAE will have to be careful about these twos. They have been guilty of conceding too many of these in this series, especially towards the end

17.3

Junaid Siddique to Santner, 1 wide, looked like Santner gloved that one but it has been called a wide! Dug in at the batter. Santner is cramped for room but swings at it anyway. Seems to get it off the glove and the keeper does well to gather. Siddique is off celebrating, only to turn around and see the umpire with his arms outstretched.

Junaid Siddique to Santner, FOUR, off the mark with a boundary! Back of a length outside off. Santner gets on top of the bounce, opens his bat face slightly and times it exquisitely past backward point

Santner in at 6. In Neesham's absence, he has to step up for NZ in these last few overs. Siddique to bowl over the wicket

16.4
W
Junaid Siddique to Chapman, OUT, holes out to deep backward square leg, Siddique has three! Back of a length delivery on leg stump that seems to just stick in the surface a little. Chapman tries to heave it away but the lack of pace means that he shanks it. The ball arrows off the toe-end and straight down the fielder's throat!
