1.10pm: England will feel confident about their changes of defending this total. It's a record total at the Viv, set up by Salt and Jacks who put on 77 for the first wicket in just 8.2 overs... England then lost regular wickets on a two-paced surface, with nine batters out of 11 reaching double figures but only Brook making a half-century, but their eventual 325 looks like a stiff ask for West Indies. Motie was the pick of the attack and Hope juggled his five options well, but his side will rue several missed chances in the field.
Brook chats briefly to the world feed at the innings break, and says that it's a two-paced pitch with variable bounce. He thinks England will be fine as long as they keeping "bashing the top of the stumps" with some variations, and says that it's good to be back posting a competitive total after "a poor World Cup".
Mark: "If logic applies (these are two of the sides in world cricket least disposed to follow logic), this should be far too many for the West Indies unless someone makes a really large score."

Raff: "Cariah was let down by his teammates' butterfingers. Had another catch or two stuck, his figures would look quite different --- as would England's total."
