6.01 pm So a gloomy season for Welsh Fire finally sees a bit of sunshine. Their first win of the season is notched. Northern Superchargers on the other hand suffer a crippling loss that seriously dents their playoff hopes.
Match Hero is Nicola Carey: "It's been a tough first few games for us, but to get a first win in front of this home crowd, the girls are pumped. I feel like all the wickets over here are a bit tricky to bat on. Halfway through, our batting coach said he thought 120 would be enough. Our batters did well to get us to that total and then our bowlers did well to defend it. If you could roll your fingers over the ball, it was tough to get away so we tried to stick to that plan. It was really simple. The message was stay on the stumps and don't do too much and get the batters to try to hit over the top. It's a funny game. The 100 balls go really quickly and fortunately we wound up on the winning side in the end."
That's it for today's coverage of the women's match. Stay tuned for the the second half of the doubleheader featuring the men. On behalf of Ashish Pant, I'm Peter Della Penna. Flip over to the men's feed to catch ball-by-ball coverage of the men's match with me and Matt Roller. Take care!
Barring any wides or no balls, Welsh Fire finally are going to get their first points of the season.
