Nicola Carey: "It was a really good job by our bowlers. It seemed like a really nice wicket at the start, when the girls were sort of teeing off at the beginning there, but I thought all our bowlers pegged them back really nicely. And obviously, taking consistent wickets is really helpful. Really pleasing. [The tournament] It's fantastic. I mean, the crowd's been amazing in Headingley; it's awesome to play in front of you guys. So it's been really fun, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. All I do is try and hit the stumps. I missed, actually, quite a few times today. So keep it really simple. We're just trying to target the stumps. And hopefully, I guess the other girls are sort of doing the same thing as well. So we have really simple plans, and it seemed to come off today. [Fielding] As a group, we talk about it a fair bit. You obviously need your fielders to support your bowling. We've got some really nice grounds here, quick outfields and nice wickets; we try our best in the field to keep the runs down."

4:08 pm In a high-stakes, must-win game, the Originals got off to a quick start, with Beth Mooney smashing 13 runs in the first set against Ballinger. Mooney looked to be in great touch until she chipped her wicket away to midwicket. Early trouble for the Originals worsened when they lost their other opener, Kathryn Bryce, cheaply in the last over of the Powerplay. As dot balls piled up, the Originals failed to build any partnerships in the middle overs, losing wickets in a cluster. Alice Monaghan tried to pick up the tempo, playing some wonderful strokes, but she got no help from her partners at the other end. Ultimately, this wasn't the Originals batters' day, even though the pitch had no demons in it. It was an excellent bowling and fielding performance from the Superchargers. Armitage deserves credit for her superb captaincy, as she rotated her bowlers brilliantly, not allowing the batters to settle. Sutherland led the way with three wickets, and Carey bagged two.
