Sarah Glenn: "[Bowling spell] It was very important, after Mooney got going a little bit there at the start, to slow us down, and then obviously Dottin at the end. [What was the plan?] It's just to keep it simple. We're at our best when we're clear on our role. And we wanted to get a low total on there, which we did, and I thought we executed really well. [Surface] I think early on, it was skidding on quite nicely with the new ball, and then as it went on the pitch, it got a bit tacky and offered a little bit of turn, a bit of hold. So I thought we mixed our pace well through the middle and the back end, and hopefully the girls can finish off. [Fielding in the Powerplay] That's like the biggest thing in terms of what we want to achieve in this team: the energy we give to everything. Fielding is the only skill you can do as a team. So we just wanted to give that energy and back our bowlers. [Easy total?] Definitely not. We still have to get the job done, even though it's a lower total. I just think we don't need to change our game plan. We still got it hard and stick to our strengths."
4:08 pm The Manchester Originals had to work hard to post a decent total on a tough pitch that gave the spinners a lot of help. They lost their opener, Bryce, early when she was caught behind trying to pull a wide delivery. The next over, Amelia Kerr was out in a bizarre run-out on a free hit delivery. Although Beth Mooney continued her good form, she was out after scoring 26 runs. The Originals couldn't build a big partnership, losing wickets at regular intervals even after getting decent starts. Dottin was given a second chance after being dropped behind the stumps on 9 runs and went on to score 36. Morris and Monaghan also provided handy support with the bat in the middle and late overs. For the London Spirit, Charlie Dean was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets. Norris, Glenn, and Knott each took one wicket.
