Sampath chimes in with a rather amazing stat: Only three times a target of 150 or less has been defended successfully in the WPL. Two of those were against the Delhi Capitals.

9:34pm An innings that started off in a quicksand and ended in a bit of a frenzy. But in between, it was dominated by the MI captain. Harmanpreet seemed to bat on a different surface altogether and timed the ball exquisitely. Sciver-Brunt provided support for a bit but apart from that, no one could really complement Harmanpreet, meaning they fall short of the 160-run mark.

Much of the credit has to go to DC as well. Kapp applied the squeeze with the new ball and until the first time-out, they were entirely calling the shots. Then, they appeared a little frazzled as Harmanpreet counter-attacked, and would be disappointed with the 45 runs they conceded in the last five overs, despite dismissing Harmanpreet in the 18th.

The Capitals, given they opted to bowl first and with their batting firepower, will not be too fussed chasing 150. But crazier things have happened in cricket and in finals before, not to mention the bowling pedigree MI have. This should be a cracking chase, and we will be back in about ten minutes for the start of it.

Marizanne Kapp: Just happy to contribute, but will be happier if we chase it down. (Record versus Matthews) She is a brilliant batter, always good to get the top order out. Came off for me tonight. (On the misfield right at the end) Hard to be happy if all three skills do not come off, will be really happy if we chase that total down. The last few finals have not been great for me personally, so really want to win and get over the line. We have played wonderfully in the last few years. (On the outfield) It is lightning quick. At the start, it was not as quick but if you hit it in the gap, it is four.

Pandey to AB Kaur, 1 run, brilliant wide yorker to finish off the innings. Amanjot clinks it out towards extra cover and hares across to the other end. Mumbai Indians end up with 149!

4
Pandey to AB Kaur, FOUR, Kapp does her best, but it is not enough on this occasion! Pandey offers width and Amanjot cashes in. Throws the kitchen sink at it and carves it towards sweeper cover. Kapp gets a hand to it first but it is not strong enough. The ball then trickles towards the rope and Kapp, trying to stop it from doing so, has a pop at it, only to miss it!

1
Pandey to Gupta, 1 run, another top yorker outside off. Gupta squeezes it out towards extra cover and this time, Lanning opts against throwing it
19.3
2
Pandey to Gupta, 2 runs, into the blockhole outside off. Gupta cannot get under it and digs it out towards extra cover. Lanning fires it at the bowler's end and misses, which means MI pinch an extra run
19.2
4
Pandey to Gupta, FOUR, lays bat on ball, and finds the gap too! Off-pace and into the track outside off. Gupta picks the slower one early, winds up and belts it between long on and deep mid wicket!

Pandey to Gupta, no run, spears it full outside off, just inside the tramlines. Gupta backs away early and backs away too much in the end. Cannot reach it and that is not a wide either

Pandey to bowl the last over. Over the wicket

Today marks 50 years since India won their only Hockey World Cup. Here's the story of how India won it, in the words of the match-winner in the final - Ashok Kumar, son of Major Dhyan Chand.

Sutherland to H Kaur, OUT, Harmanpreet picks out the sweeper to perfection, and MI hearts sink to the ground! This is an enormous moment in the game! Right in the slot outside off and Harmanpreet looks to go inside-out. Gets it right out of the middle too but Lanning has a fielder placed exactly for that. Kapp tracks it all the way and even though there is a slight bobble, she manages to hold on. Harmanpreet cannot believe what she has done, and neither can those in blue and gold in the crowd. But take nothing away from this knock. When her team were in all sorts, she walked out and produced a knock of stirring quality!

Shree Charani to Kamalini, no run, back of a length outside off. Kamalini stays back and shapes for the cut. Swishes hard at it but only connects with fresh air. Lets out a grunt of frustration too

Shree Charani to H Kaur, 1 run, tossed up full on off. Harmanpreet backs away and looks to go inside-out. Deceived in the air completely, though, and she ends up dragging it to long on

2
Shree Charani to H Kaur, 2 runs, very full on leg stump. Harmanpreet tucks it off her toes towards deep mid wicket and Kamalini urges her captain to come back for the second. Instigates it and completes it comfortably

Shree Charani to H Kaur, 1 wide, fired in on a back of a length just outside leg. Harmanpreet swipes at it and misses, and the umpire calls it a wide. That straightened as well but not enough
