Leela: "So, who is ahead between these two teams at the halfway mark? I feel Mumbai did pretty well and they slightly have an advantage. What do you say, Shashwat?" -- I'd probably agree. Mumbai have the firepower to chase this total down, but if this pitch slows up and dew does not play a big role, RCB could strike back too. Right on a knife-edge!

Vidyut: "wow that was one of the best innings in WPL's short history"

Deep Gadhia from our stats team tells me that Perry now has six fifty-plus scores in the WPL, only behind Meg Lanning in that particular list.

9:04pm Ellyse Perry. That is it. That is the story of this innings. Prior to this game, she had not set the WPL ablaze this season, but she has done so tonight and how. She walked in when her side had just lost their skipper and saw plenty of batters fall around her. But Perry being Perry, barely flinched. She soaked up all the pressure and somehow still managed to find the fence regularly. She could not bat through the innings but her knock has ensured RCB have 15 more than the average first-innings score at this venue last year.

As for MI, they will feel they could have kept RCB down to a lower total, given the slow-down they instigated post Mandhana's dismissal. Amanjot was tidy towards the end but Matthews and Sciver-Brunt were uncharacteristically expensive. They might not fret over the score they are chasing, but the extra runs they shipped means MI will have to be at their best to make it two wins out of three. Join us in a bit for the run-chase!

AB Kaur to Bisht, 2 runs, oh dear - a comedy of errors! Length ball outside off. Bisht winds up and drags it into the leg side. Miscommunication then ensues between the batters, and also between the fielder and the keeper. The throw to the batter's end is initially wild and by the time the ball is backed up and relayed back to the stumps, Bisht has made her ground. A really helter-skelter end to the innings, and RCB finish with 167!

Bisht to face the last ball

AB Kaur to Perry, OUT, straight down Shabnim Ismail's throat, and an extraordinarily phenomenal innings comes to an end! The crowd gives a standing ovation, and there might be many sitting at home who would be doing something similar too! Back to the ball. This is in the slot on off and there to be hit. Perry tries to clear long on but cannot get the elevation she wants. Picks out Ismail and that could make a difference of a few runs to the total!

AB Kaur to Perry, FOUR, blitzed across the turf, and the Chinnaswamy Stadium is rocking! Leg-cutter that ends up as a half-tracker outside off. Perry lets the ball arrive and then slaps it past extra cover!

Chuvi : "Is there anything that the wonder woman ellyse perry can't do on a cricket ground ?"

AB Kaur to Perry, FOUR, Ellyse Perry is magic! Amanjot goes for the yorker and misses on the shorter side, which allows Perry to use her long levers and bang it over the bowler's head!

1
AB Kaur to Garth, 1 run, back of a length on the stumps. Garth takes a step down the track and nurdles it to long on. Over to Ellyse Perry

Surely Garth must look to get Perry on strike here?

AB Kaur to Garth, no run, well well! Zipped in very full on off. Garth, rather ambitiously, looks for the scoop and makes a complete hash of it

Amanjot to bowl the last over. RCB already above what was the average first-innings score last season

Nat Sciver-Brunt to Perry, FOUR, skewed off the outside edge but into the deep third fence! Full outside off. Perry has width to cash in on and she throws the plumbing at it. Nowhere near the middle of the bat, but the ball takes enough of the outside edge to loop over short third!

Nat Sciver-Brunt to Perry, 1 wide, full and wide outside off. Well beyond the tramlines and the umpire calls it a wide, despite Perry having moved across her stumps

Both right-handers, when hitting to the leg side, will be hitting to the shorter side this over

Nat Sciver-Brunt to Garth, no run, back of a length outside off. Garth dabs it towards backward point and wants to get Perry on strike. The single is not on, though, and Garth gets sent back. She has to scramble and just manages to regain her ground

Sciver-Brunt to bowl the penultimate over. 160 is very much within reach. If Perry stays out there, 170 and beyond could be a possibility too

Matthews to Perry, FOUR, four more! Ellyse Perry is turning it on! A bit of a drag-down and a sign that the pressure is getting to Matthews. Perry rocks back and belts it between deep mid wicket and deep square leg!

Matthews to Perry, 2 runs, back of a length on the stumps. Perry punches it towards long on and Garth decides very early that she will come back to the danger end. Perry reciprocates and hurtles across to the other end

Matthews to Perry, FOUR, Perry starts off the over with a boundary! Back of a length, straying onto the pads and Perry does not miss out. Picks it up and lifts it over short fine leg!

Matthews to bowl the 18th. This is a pivotal moment in the game. If Perry can come through unscathed, 165 could very well be on the cards
