9:32pm Phew, that was some innings. MI dominated the first three overs, keeping the Capitals down to just six runs and picking up the wicket of Shafali. Capsey, though, found her range as soon as she walked out. Lanning, too, joined in on the act and the pair increased the scoring rate post the powerplay.
Lanning departed in that pursuit but Capsey found an able ally in Rodrigues, who rattled along to 42 off 24. Kapp then added the finishing touches towards the end, ensuring that the Capitals breached the 170-run mark.
The Mumbai Indians will not be very pleased with their fielding effort. They dropped a couple of chances, and misses a few run-out opportunities. Ishaque did not finish her quota either, despite going at less than six runs per over, and that might go down as a tactical error. Ismail, on MI debut, was brilliant. Sciver-Brunt and Kerr picked up two wickets apiece, although they were expensive.
MI now have a 172-run target to scale down. They have the firepower to make this look a routine chase, but they will have to be at their best, against a bowling attack that looks pretty incisive on paper. Join us in a bit for the second innings!
Alice Capsey: Loved being back, amazing competition to be a part of. Delighted to contribute. The last time I played a game was in December, so, feeling fresh and I just wanted to go out there and execute. (Her game-plan) Just to go out there and put pressure on the bowler. The partnership between me and Meg was crucial. She was really good in keeping me calm. (Plans against specific bowlers) Before the game, you sit down and see what their strengths and variations are. But I like to keep it clear: see ball, hit ball.

Amit: "I think Mumbai were caught off guard here. They started off strong with Ismail and Ishaque. However the assault by Capsey left them searching for answers. Coupled by some shoddy fielding in the ground they are at sea now. Charlotte Edwards and Jhulan Goswami need to settle some nerves here."

Ashish, who is at the venue, tells me that a fair bit of dew has accumulated on the field and that the ropes were being used during the time-out to dry the outfield as much as possible
