6:58pm That will be all from us for today. We will be back tomorrow with more SA20 action tomorrow, and we hope to have your company again. Until then, this is goodbye from Ranjith and myself. Take care, folks!
Lutho Sipamla, Player of the Match: Really good start, just glad to be able to contribute, it has been fun. Just trying to keep it as simple as possible. Working nicely with the captain, I know what I am trying to do against each batter. It is not nice getting injuries but it is an opportunity and I am grateful to them (the franchise for trusting me). Enjoying it, really fun. Nice having such elite players (in the team), and the coaching staff (as well). You just try to keep learning, act as a sponge and really enjoying it.
Faf du Plessis, Joburg Super Kings captain: T20 is a strange game. You feel on top of the world after a win like that. As a team, we needed it. In the previous game, getting a wicket off the first ball (although it was a No ball), means he (Sipamla) is on the money. It really breaks a team when you can take wickets in the powerplay. Two in the first over makes a huge difference. From a bowling perspective, we were not far off (in the previous game as well). Today was nice to get a few rewards, especially glad for the bowling attack. (On their fielding tonight) That is a sign of a team clicking. Fielding is always a great measuring tool to see where a team is at. It was a big thing for us to improve on and the last two opportunities in the field (we have got), were good. That is the style of play from someone like Conway. He is not a guy who whacks you all around the park. He uses good cricket shots and he is a really important tool for our batting line-up - the kind of player who anchors and allows others to be positive. (On home comfort) Glad that we are in the Highveld for the next ten days.
Aiden Markram, Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain: Tough day at the office for us. The powerplay with the bat in the hand…we fell so far behind in the game that it was tough (to come back). Will hold individual conversations to see how we can improve in the next game. It is never nice (to have a performance like this) but it does happen. We have played enough T20 cricket (to realize such things can happen). Nice sort of humbling day for us. Time to get our head down, work harder and now onto Newlands. Always a good show and hopefully we can put together a good game of cricket (there), with the batters and bowlers firing.
6:37pm Clinical and convincing. The ball jagged around early in JSK's innings too but they found away to tide over it, losing just the one wicket in the powerplay. Conway then grew in stature as the innings progressed and found an able ally in Lubbe, both of whom looked in great touch as the Super Kings mowed down their target in 14 overs. du Plessis, too, produced a brisk cameo and transferred the pressure onto the visitors early.
A bad day at the office for the defending champions. They won the toss but that was probably all they won today. They did not have many to defend and once JSK negated their new-ball threat, a defeat seemed more a matter of when rather than if.
Just two more needed
Jansen to bowl out. JSK need just ten more
