Oh, well. What a turnaround for the Eastern Cape, thanks to Markram, Jansen, and Dawson. They suffered another poor start, losing three wickets in the opening four overs. The Capitals' quick bowlers caused mayhem in the top order. Markram then took the lead and went on to score 68 runs, remaining at the crease. He had substantial help from both Jansen and Dawson in the middle to register a decent number on the board. Dawson had a fantastic cameo performance with a couple major hits. The Capitals' fast bowlers lost their line and length in the latter stages of the innings, which was costly. Bosch took three wickets, while Jacks claimed two. We'll return for the second innings after a short break.

Sam: "Did the pitch get easier to bat on towards the end, or did Markram/Janson/Dawson understand the needs of the pitch better than the rest?" Both happened to be honest, and the Capitals bowlers lost a significant amount of line and length in the final overs.
