8:37pm The game has been called off due to rain! After over two-and-a-half hours of waiting, the drizzle did not relent, and an abandonment was the only option. We had only 11 overs of play possible. Both team split points, which means with 16 points MICT still stay second on the table despite having a superior NRR to Paarl Royals'. That is because Royals have an extra win - which is the differentiator in the competition. A damp squib today but the action in SA20 2025 comes thick and fast. So do join us tomorrow as Sunrisers Eastern Cape take on Pretoria Capitals. Till then, this is Sudarshanan bidding you goodbye! Ciao, take care!

8:35pm The umpires, with their umbrellas, are out in the middle. The drizzle is still around, so mop up ops can begin only after the drizzle stops completely.

8:15pm No positive news yet from Kingsmead. The persistent drizzle means that the covers are firmly in position, no movement from the ground staff.

Thabo: "mict needs to sort out their batting order , Brevis should be batting 4, with due respect to Rashid even Portigiter and Bosch are better batsman than him. Don't like seeing Van Der dussen and Hendricks batting together they slow the game down." And they also have Atal in the ranks, the only tricky part being one of van der Dussen or Hendricks might have to miss out in that case

7:20pm The drizzle is still on, no signs of it abating right now. Fingers crossed, we wait

6:45pm Nothing much to report I am afraid. The drizzle continues at Kingsmead, meaning, our wait continues

6:30pm Okay, more covers are coming on now, to cover the outfield square on both sides of the wicket. Wonder what made me a tad optimistic a while ago.

Vishal Poojary: "Pushing Brevis down every game surely doesn't help with his confidence."

6:27pm The rain seems to have reduced at the moment, but some umbrellas are still open. They are still waiting to take the covers off.

6:17pm Bad news folks! rain is coming down hard and everybody is off. Was building up to be such an interesting phase of play. Sigh, we will have to wait for a bit for the action to resume. DSG did really well to claw their way back after the powerplay, returning 20 for 2 in the five overs since. Spin seems to be doing well for DSG, will be interesting to see how much they can have an impact upon resumption. Hang tight, hopefully not a very long break this

Sam: "Are MICT trying to be too funky with their batting lineup? Every match it seems there's someone being promoted unexpectedly, and it can't help with the players' role clarity" Trying to be dynamic, I suppose, but not sure I agree with the move to push Rashid up with Brevis in the line-up.

Maharaj to Rashid Khan, no run, And once again Rashid walks across to slog it to the on side but misses. He is a much better batter than that. Maharaj is done with the ball for the evening

Maharaj to Rashid Khan, FOUR, Finally the result Rashid wants! Nevermind it came off a misfield, or a rather bad slip in the deep. He dances down the track and goes inside out over cover. Dala has it covered but slips in the outfield and it goes away

Noor Ahmad to Ingram, OUT, Noor strikes now and MICT are losing the plot against spin. This time it is the traditional legspinner, Ingram once again looks to sweep and gets it off the top edge. King moves to his right at deep backward square leg and takes it on the rope. It was the shorter side of the boundary and yet Ingram failed to clear it. His struggles this season continues
