7:05pm No batter scored more than 41, but the Royals have done superbly to get up to 160. That seemed on the cards at the start, when Buttler and Roy began like a house on fire. Both of them, though, perished in quick succession and that caused a stutter.

In fact, it was not until Miller and van Buuren joined hands that the Royals regained their foothold in the game. Miller could not quite provide the finishing kick he would have wanted but Phehlukwayo did, taking them to a total that should be very competitive on this surface.

Dupavillon was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, even though he took a bit of tap at the end. Jacks was also tidy during the middle overs. Neesham, too, popped up with the crucial wicket of Roy. The Capitals will feel they could have restricted the Royals to under 150, given they were 56-3 at one stage, however, they will, considering the firepower they have, also be quietly confident of chasing this down.

This game hangs in the balance, and there is all to play for in the second innings. Join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Mitchell van Buuren: I would have loved to have stayed there for a couple of more overs and hit a few more boundaries. We have ended up with a good total and pretty happy with that. The pitch here suits the spinners generally. We have three spinners today and they are world-class. I think they will do a massive job for us. At our home ground, definitely very confident (of defending this total).
