Andre Fletcher: "I think I was a bit lucky up front, but the wicket was a bit slow. I tried to pace myself as much as possible. Tried to be as positive also, and I'm grateful for the innings. I think it's a very good total. So it's just for us to go in here as a team and execute as well as possible. We all know the position we are in as a team. It was just for us to come out and play fearless cricket. We know what we can do as a team is just for us, as I mentioned, to be ourselves and try our best to execute as well as possible, both with the bat and with the ball. [Catalyst behind retired hurt] It was the coach. I think it was a good decision. I was struggling a bit. Maybe I was trying to hit the ball too hard, but it's a tactical decision. We got the total that we wanted and we just want to go there and defend it."
8:40 pm The Los Angeles Knight Riders have smashed their previous records, posting their highest-ever total in the MLC and, for the first time, crossing the 200-run mark. It looks like their constant shuffling of opening pairs has finally paid off! Andre Fletcher was the star of the show right from the start, absolutely flying out of the blocks. The Knight Riders dominated the Powerplay, racking up a massive 67 runs, with an incredible 45 of those coming from Fletcher's bat. He's certainly in red-hot form today! The Washington Freedom players will be kicking themselves, as Mukhtar dropped Fletcher when he was on 42 in the sixth over; that proved to be a costly miss. Fletcher and Chand laid a fantastic foundation, putting on an impressive 130-run opening partnership, the highest opening stand for the Knight Riders. But then Holland came into the attack in the 13th over and changed the game, forcing a breakthrough and then picking up another wicket in his very next over. The Freedom bowlers did a good job of tightening things up in the middle overs, making it tough for the Knight Riders to find the boundaries. Maxwell used a total of seven bowlers to try and contain the Knight Riders, with Holland picking up two crucial wickets and Jack Edwards getting the other. We'll be back shortly for the run chase after a short break.
