Glenn Maxwell: "We came in slightly different circumstances. Needed to bat a little bit differently. And started pretty slow, but once I thought we needed a few more runs, I tried to take my shots on, and they came off. We just needed to bat with time at that stage. I was hoping me and Chappie [Chapman] take it really deep and we could maybe attack the last five or six. But yeah, just had to find a way to manipulate the strike there at the end and try and target certain boundaries. [Mom and dad in the stands] Pretty cool, but they don't get to see me make many runs very often, so it's nice to have them here and witness something like this.
ashton: "How is the pitch playing in Oakland? Also, nice to see cricket in converted baseball stadiums" These are dropped in pitches that were brought here and have settled wonderfully, transforming into a batting paradise with practically nothing to help the bowlers.
7:42 pm Rachin Ravindra hit two quick fours in the first over. But then, a great ball from Dry got him bowled out right away. Still, Owen and Gous kept the run flow going! They scored 19 runs in the second over. Owen was amazing, scoring 32 runs from just 11 balls. But the Knight Riders fought back. They took three wickets fast and only gave away 10 runs in the last two overs of the Powerplay. Then, Maxwell decided to go big! He hit three huge sixes in a row in Sangha's last over. Later, Matthew Tromp dropped an easy catch of Maxwell, and that turned out to be costly. After that, it was all about Maxi! The Washington Freedom captain scored 100 runs in just 48 balls. He hit 13 sixes and 2 fours, scoring 106 runs from 49 balls. Tanveer Sangha and Sunil Narine bowled well and didn't give away too many runs. But the other bowlers found it very tough against Glenn Maxwell's powerful hitting. We'll be back soon for the chase!
