Thanks, everyone for tuning in today. We will be back for the third ODI which will be staged on March 23 at the same venue. Till then, this is Ashish Pant signing off on behalf of Thilak and Ranjith. Ciao!

8.32pm The rain has had the final say and the match has officially been called off, informs Isam. It was looking grim from the time the rain made its first appearance at the end of the first innings and it never really relented. At least, we did have the time to see that scintillating innings from Mushfiqur Rahim, where he smashed the fastest century by a Bangladesh batter in ODIs. The hosts also slammed their highest score in ODIs, beating the previous best that they posted in the first game. Eventually, it was the weather that won on the day. Bangladesh will head into the third ODI 1-0 up.

Adil: "It might seem strange but I love reading comments coming from people near the grounds affected by rain. It feels like there are multiple reporters on the field keeping us informed"

8.20pm Isam updates that rain is still falling steadily. Covers still firmly in place.

8.05pm Looking at live pictures, there is a bit of activity on the outfield. Having said that, the umbrellas are still up firmly. Even if the rain relents, it will take some time to drain all the water. Reminder that the cut-off time for a 20-over game is 9.33pm.

ahs: "3km away from stadium and the rain has been stopped,no more possibility of rain in next 4 hours." Fingers crossed.

Safi: "My favorite innings is Shakib's 124* not out against the West Indies in the 2019 World Cup. Chasing a huge total of 322 with such ease in 40 overs (huge thanks to Liton as well) was incredible to watch"

7.48pm Scrap that last bit of info as Isam informs that the rain is heavier now. Sigh! The forecast was never great, to be honest. But the at least we have time before the game can get officially called off.

7.35pm There might be some hope afterall. Isam informs that rain is getting lighter. The outfield has taken a battering, regardless.

Shahab Uddin Kh: "I think Mahmudullah's knock against England in 2015 i's the best interms of importance. The 2nd one is Shakib and Mahmudullah's knock in 2017 Champions Trophy. Mushfiqur Rahim's knock may 5th in my eye."

AJ: "No mention of Mahmudullah's 103 vs England at the 2015 WC? So much significance in that knock - first Bangladeshi ton at a WC and contributed to a historic victory as well."

Saad sristy: "ashraful's 94, ashraful's 101, shakib's 90 these are the common best inns selection which all before 2010. interesting. for me ashraful's 94 was the best hard hitting inns by any bangladeshi."

yousuf zamil: "Its a k.m away from the stadium and its pouring down at the moment. Those who know about Sylheti rain shouldn't have any hope to see some actions..Its down to 3rd odi now "

7.15pm Still raining, FYI! The covers are firmly in place. No activity on the outfield. It might be a while until we see any action.

Tarif Sherhan: "my favorite ODI knocks by Bangladeshi batters: 1. Moh'd Ashraful's Century against Australia at Cardif 2. Moh'd Ashraful's 92 against England the very next match 3. Shakib Al Hasan's 90 against Sri Lanka in 2009 4. Tamim Iqbal's fifty against India at WC 2007 5. Moh'd Ashraful's 80 against South Africa in WC 2007."

Abdullah : "It was certainly a great ton, but the greatest ever ton in Ban's ODI would be either Shakib's or Mahmudullah's ton against the black caps in champions trophy. It was incredible how they fought back on a foreign soil. "

Tanvir: "In case of hitting knock, Ashraful's 94 (52) vs England stands number 1 for me."

Faisal : "This Mushfiqur innings ranks right at the top along with Miraz's rescue against India and Ashraful's century against the mighty Aussies!"

6.55pm Another bit of update is that there will be more time extensions, which leaves a bit of room for a start time. New information: Match has to end at 11:57pm. So new cut off time is 9:33pm. And, as we wait for the weather to clear, where do you think this knock from Mushfiqur ranks in the history Bangladesh ODIs?

Bpagur: "Do the scores/wickets count if a match is abondoned? Such as will Mushi's century be in book if the match is abondoned today?" The records will stand.

6.40pm Still raining in Sylhet. Isam informs that 8:06pm is the cut-off time to start the 20-over innings. He further adds that the shower is quite heavy at the moment.

6:31 pm It's raining and it's quite heavy. We'll bring you more updates as we have them. Meanwhile you can shift to an exciting WPL game.

6:19 pm Welcome back, and not the best of news as Isam informs that it's raining heavily at the moment and the covers are on. Bangladesh posted their highest ODI score a couple of days day and today they have surpassed and piled up 349. On the other hand, Ireland have their task cut out and has to go nearly seven an over from the go

END OF OVER:

6.00pm What a knock by Mushfiqur! Gets the record for the fastest century by a Bangladesh batter in ODIs Excellent knock and Bangladesh reach 349 for 6, their highest total in ODIs. This will take some getting from Ireland. The ball was moving all the way in the first ten over under cloudy skies but the bowlers could not strike. The first wicket came via a run out before Litton and Shanto dug in adding 101 runs off 96 balls. Ireland did stage a comeback with three quick wickets but Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy's stand of 128 off 78 balls completely took the game away from Ireland. They leaked runs both side of the stumps and the Bangladesh batters made merry. Mushfiqur slammed 14 fours and two sixes in his century to set up a record score. Ireland could not chase down 339 the other day. Can they chase down 350, today? Join Thilak in a bit to find out.

Islam Saif: "One of the best innings in ODI for Bangladesh! Take a bow Mushi- MR15!!"

EshanHarryNz: "Bangladesh are looking threatening in ODI format. This team looks set that is without Mehidy too only gets stronger when he is included. "
