Rahul collects the trophy, the team poses in delight. Kuldeep, Pant, Axar, Easawan all pose a little while later. A riveting game ends with India sneaking past Bangladesh to get a 2-0 series win. The game had many talking points, lots will be inspected in the content coming up here on ESPNcricinfo. Check it out. There are also the Boxing Day Tests between Australia and South Africa, and Pakistan and New Zealand starting tomorrow. The festive season is showering us with cricket and you can catch it all here. For now, it's goodbye from me, Ekanth, my report writing co-commentator, Vishal Dikshit, Hemant Brar who was here for the first three days, and our scorer, Thilak Rama.
Bhabesh : "Surprised that Shreyas is not the PoS" Yes, even Ashwin said he'd share his award with Shreyas if the latter hadn't won the POTS.
KL Rahul, India Captain You just trust the guys in the middle. There's always belief but there were nerves, we are human. But we trusted the batters out. Today, Ashwin and Shreyas did it with ease and style. Well done to them to earn India the win. We never thought it'd be a cakewalk, thought we need to grind and work hard for runs which Bangladesh did. It was tougher with the new ball. We lost more wickets than we'd have liked. We've made mistakes but will look to learn and hopefully put a better performance if a similar situation arises in the future. Happy with our bowling depth in the last 6-7 years. The series wins say a lot about how well we've groomed our pace attack. Ashwin and Axar have also done really well. Umesh put his hands up, Jaydev came in after a long time but bowled phenomenally well and probably deserved more wickets than he got. But the pressure helped Ashwin and Axar capitalise.
Cheteshwar Pujara is the POTS: It's been a hard series, series was very competitive. I feel I've found my rhythm. A lot of hard work has been put in, I've played many first-class games and have worked on my game. (On first-class) If you look at the gap between Test series, playing first-class helps keep in touch. Each game is important with the WTC and you have to be on top of your game. I've played many first-class and Test matches. You need to be mentally strong.
R Ashwin is the POTM: Been a long time, hello, Sanjay. Game was on the line. I thought Bangladesh played really well. The game had to be won the hard way. Shreyas batted beautifully, if he wasn't the player of the series, I'd have shared this with him. In these situations, sometimes you feel you need to hit your way. They bowled well. But we needed to trust our defence. I wanted to get in and support Shreyas. Pitches were good, they were a touch slow. But the ball made a difference. The hosts put us under a lot of pressure. Good performances as well.
Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh Captain: Everyone contributed, we've played well in this venue. Shreyas and Ashwin batted well under pressure. We needed one more wicket. We can think of lots of ifs and buts but happy with the way we thought. It was unfortunate I couldn't bowl well in the first Test, but happy to have done well here. The mindset of the team makes me happy. Hopefully, we get better results next year.
11:37am: Hitesh: "Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer strong contendors for MoM and MoS.." We'll find out now. Presentations are on.
Siddharth : "Not to forget Axar Patel. Valuable runs under Supreme pressure."
Manu: "Somebody commented yesterday that this match might end like the Laxman-Ojha win against Aus. Well not quite, but it was close "
India's Word Test Championship status is still on course, they are still on No. 2, with Australia to tour in February next year. They'll have many a question to answer, particularly about the top order. For now, they can rejoice in this hard-fought win.
11:18am: Handshakes and hugs around in the Indian camp, Bangladesh's fielders shake hands. Bear hugs from the coach to the two batters. Shakib too, shakes hands. Bangladesh put up a tremendous fight, coming back via Litton with the bat, later Mehidy with the ball. They got three wickets under thirty runs in the morning today. Pant's wicket seemed huge. Shakib and Mehidy were all over the batters. Ashwin came in to join the calm Shreyas, both batters rode out the storm, took scoring opportunities when they came along as time passed. Mominul dropped a chance off Ashwin when the score was 80 and he was on one, the batter capitalised on it big time, he had a tough time after that for a while but took the game head-on once the target neared. The pitch offered spin and variable bounce but the duo smartly scrapped through to a 2-0 series win.
Hitesh: "Last over was pure T20 "
suneel: "AshWIN"
Saad: ""Where is Mehidy Hassan?"" He's on from the Walton end now, swapping ends after bowling ten from the other end
