What a game! One that the Bangladesh fans will talk about for years to come. Can't say the same about India. In case you missed it (seriously, where were you!), read all about it in Karthik's report. Hope you enjoyed our coverage of the game. We will be back in a couple of days' time, with India looking to get one back and Bangladesh keen to make it 2-0 and wrap up the series. Till then, on behalf of Himanshu and Thilak, this is me, Ashish, signing off. Ciao!
Litton Das, the winning captain: Very happy. When I was in the dressing room, I was really nervous, but the way Fizz and Miraz batted, I enjoyed it a lot. The bowlers bowled really well at the start. When me and Shakib were batting, we thought we could chase it easily. But when we got out, it got tricky. I had faith on the others but I have no words to describe this feeling. Congratulations to Miraz.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the Player of the Match : Thanks to Allah. I am really excited. Mustafizur and I just thought that we need to believe. I just told him to stay calm and play 20 balls. I am really enjoying bowling. The wicket in the morning was a bit tricky, and I enjoyed bowling. This performance is really memorable for me.
First up, Rohit Sharma, the India captain : It was a very close game. We did very well to come back into the game. We did not bat well. We bowled pretty well and kept them under pressure till the end. They held their nerves in the backend. If you look back at how we bowled, of course the last few overs, we would have liked to get a wicket. We kept taking wickets all through. It wasn't enough runs. Another 30-40 runs would have made a difference. With KL and Washy, we could have got there. Unfortunately, we lost wickets in the middle, and it is not easy to come back. The pitch was a bit challenging, the odd ball was turning. You have to understand how to play. There are no excuses, we are used to such types of conditions. We need to look at how to bat against their spinners in these conditions. The genes are there, these guys grew up playing in such conditions. It is all about handling pressure. Once you do, it gives you confidence. It is important to learn how to handle those pressure situations. Hopefully, we change things around in the next game.
Presentation time.
This is the fourth-highest 10th wicket partnership in a successful ODI chase, says Sampath.
ShahSafeer : "Switched on to TV when Mehidy hit those two sixes off Sen bowling, I thought he was hitting shots for a fun but surprised us all with a beautiful win, one for ages for BD cricket! "
JOYDEEP GILL: "Ind conceded 17 extras causing lose them this match"
7.45pm A game that ebbed and flowed all the way through ends up in Bangladesh's favour, courtesy an an almost unbelievable 51-run last-wicket stand between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman. In all fairness, Bangladesh should have won this game quite easily, but defending 187, India came out all guns firing. Deepak Chahar picked a wicket of the first ball, Mohammed Siraj was exceptional in the middle overs, so was Washington Sundar. The experienced batters, Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah, all got starts, but none of them could carry on till the end. Bangladesh were 95 for 3, then slipped to 136 for 9 in a dramatic collapse. It seemed the game would be over, everyone did, barring two men - Mehidy and Fizz. The duo added 51 off 41 balls to take their side home. The celebrations told the entire story. How costly were the fielding lapses. For a team that plays under high-pressure situations all the time, India just lost the plot and couldn't take the pressure. There were drop catches, fielding lapses, overthrows, wayward bowling.
Ruthvik: "Baffling to no use of Sundar at the fag end and Rohit persisting with fast medium bowlers. Ordinary stuff captaincy." The dew was a factor, I suspect. It was getting tough to grip the ball.
Ashfaq: "Winning runs was a four. Not a single so correct the commentary pls" They completed the single before the ball hit the boundary cushions.
Naman: "India's inability to clean up the tail continues"
Rohit speaks with Chahar. The field comes in. Everyone on the offside is in. Midwicket in, deep square leg and long on are back.
Prince: "India have just bowled poorly in the last 4-5 overs. Kept bowling short. No Yorkers. Just lost the plot."
Two to win, one for a tie. Fizz to take strike.
H. Prasanna : "Why do keep bowling short to Miraz? They bowled brilliant lengths throughout the game!"
Just 8 to win for Bangladesh. How things change in a matter of overs! Can these two hold their nerves? These last eight runs, they are going to be the toughest. They can get these in singles, pretty easily.,
