Kane Richardson: (On Suryakumar's wicket) It's the first time he's missed the middle of the bat against us. [On the lack of game time] We were joking that this is the first game after the practice match last year. We haven't played a lot. [On variations] Tried the slower ones as the grounds are a lot bigger. But their batters were good enough to clear the fence. We'll try to get it but we're enjoying it and will see how we go. [On the atmosphere] It was quiet, made it feel like a covid game. If crowd were allowed in, the stadium would have been full.
3.35pm Good warm up for both sides. Excellent turn out for Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul who got fifties, while Kane Richardson picked up four wickets. India got off to a flier, courtesy Rahul, who kept all the strike to himself in the first four overs. And might as well, as he carted the Aussie bowlers to all parts of the ground. India raced to 69 for 0 in six overs before Australia struck back with the wickets of the openers. Kohli got in with a few crisp shots but fell to a Starc bouncer. Suryakumar though carried on his impressive form. With the boundaries massive square of the wicket, he picked up the gaps well and also ran beautifully. The home side picked regular wickets and it will be interesting to see whether they can chase this down. Join Ekanth in a bit to find out.
