10:41pm Phew. What a game. And we are still not done. There was drama at the start. there was drama through the middle and there was drama right at the end too. Nissanka, of course, was the star of the show. His majestic hundred left India shell-shocked and onlookers spell-bound, and he very nearly took SL past the finish line. But just when the line was in sight, he perished, and that set the stage for a frenetic ending.

Prior to that, Perera had supported Nissanka wonderfully, rattling his way to a 32-ball 58. The rest of the middle order, namely Asalanka and Kamindu, though, did not turn up and that meant Shanaka had to do a lot of the heavy lifting.

As for India, they were shabby with the ball. Their spinners, however, turned it up towards the end of their respective spells and that put SL in a spot. Rana and Arshdeep also largely held their nerve, but they will now have to pick themselves up and go at it again.

Harshit Rana to Shanaka, 2 runs, and we have a tie! This game is going to a Super Over! Chaos everywhere, and absolutely manic ending! Back of a length on middle and off. Shanaka hacks it down the ground towards long on. Miscues it terribly, though, and that allows both batters to get back for two. Shanaka, in trying to make his ground, sprawls at the batter's end. In the meantime, Rana fumbles his collection of the throw and the third may have been on had Shanaka not been down on the deck at the other end. Proper drama. Proper nerves. But no proper conclusion yet. And we will have a one-over shootout to figure it all out!

3 off the final ball. Super Over anyone? SKY walks up to his bowler, perhaps wanting to discuss what to bowl. Rinku has run from the off side over to the leg side. Probably into a hot spot to prevent the second. Looks like Dube has been moved over to the off side from deep mid wicket, with Rinku taking that spot now

4
Harshit Rana to Shanaka, FOUR, in the slot, and screamed over short third! Not the best ball Rana will bowl. Not the best shot Shanaka will play. But it works for Sri Lanka. This is an almighty swish and the ball flies off the outside edge. No one back on the fence, and SL need three off the final ball!

7 off 2. SL need a boundary here

19.4
2
Harshit Rana to Shanaka, 2 runs, slanted into the slot on off stump. Shanaka winds up and heaves it towards deep mid wicket. Dube misfields on the fence this time and Shanaka scrambles back for the second

9 off 3. India in the box seat now perhaps. Shanaka, though, might have other views

19.3
1b
Harshit Rana to Liyanage, 1 bye, off-pace again, on a length outside off. Liyanage, rather ambitiously, looks for the reverse lap but misses it due to no pace on the ball. Samson fumbles and Shanaka is alert enough to sneak in a bye
19.2
2
Harshit Rana to Liyanage, 2 runs, slower ball on a back of a length outside off. Liyanage has a huge swipe at it and the bottom hand comes off. The ball spirals off the higher part of the bat and just evades SKY to his right in the wide mid off region

Liyanage, playing his first game of the tournament, walks in with SL needing 12 off 5

Harshit Rana to Nissanka, OUT, straight to short fine leg, and Harshit Rana roars in delight! Nissanka is distraught, and he cannot believe what has just transpired! Zipped in full on the stumps. Nissanka shuffles across very early and laces his flick. Smashes it straight to Varun, who does really well to get both of his hands up in front of his face. The ball sticks and Nissanka does now know where to look. Nissanka walks off after playing a splendid knock, but someone else will have to take SL past the finish line now!

P Nissanka c Varun b Harshit Rana 107 (103m 58b 7x4 6x6) SR: 184.48

12 needed off 6. Rana to bowl. Rana has been very expensive tonight, but this is his moment to turn things around and become the hero. Nissanka, already the hero for SL, would want to add another chapter to his knock tonight

Arshdeep Singh to Shanaka, FOUR, Shanaka does not nail this, but it has enough legs on it to trickle into the fence! Arshdeep goes closer to the stumps and compounds his woes by bowling a full toss. Not the cleanest of strikes but Shanaka but the ball agonizingly evades Rinku, who is running back from mid on!

Arshdeep Singh to Shanaka, 1 wide, length ball pushed well outside off. Shanaka swings and misses, but his blushes are spared by the umpire stretching out his arms
18.5
1
Arshdeep Singh to Nissanka, 1 run, another low full toss darted wide outside off. Nissanka swings at it but only manages a shank off the toe-end. Dribbles towards deep backward point

This has been a top over by Arshdeep so far. All of his T20 experience coming through. India have packed their off-side field, with only three on the leg side

18.4
1
Arshdeep Singh to Shanaka, 1 run, into the blockhole wide outside off. Shanaka throws his hands at it and slices it towards deep backward point

Waqas: "Looks like we might have the super over today!"

Arshdeep Singh to Shanaka, no run, banged into the track just outside off, and that is a riposte to Shanaka shaping for the scoop. He tries to adjust frantically but fails to make contact

1
Arshdeep Singh to Nissanka, 1 run, slower full toss outside off. Nissanka flat-bats it straight to long off and has to settle for a single. He will feel he missed out there

2
Arshdeep Singh to Nissanka, 2 runs, into the blockhole on middle and off. Nissanka jams down on it and squeezes it out towards fine leg. Canters back for a brace and stays on strike

23 off 12. Arshdeep will bowl one of these, with Rana bowling the other. Who does SKY turn to for the 19th? Arshdeep it is

Umair: "I'm running out of words to describe Nissanka. What a phenomenal player we have on our hands!"

Patel to Shanaka, 1 run, length just outside off. Shanaka moves across his stumps and swipes it towards deep mid wicket
17.4
0
Patel to Shanaka, no run, back of a length outside off and this grips in the surface just enough. Spins away a shade and that takes it past Shanaka's flailing blade

Looks like Tilak has also injured himself. He is stretching out his left hamstring. Hardik is already off the field. India will hope that is just cramp, rather than anything muscular

17.3
6
Patel to Shanaka, SIX, Shanaka wants a piece of the action too, and Sri Lanka's six-hitting barrage is back on track! A bit of a drag-down on middle and off. Shanaka opens up his stance and muscles it just over deep mid wicket!
17.2
1
Patel to Nissanka, 1 run, back of a length outside off. Nissanka waits for it and drills it towards extra cover. SKY misfields and allows a single

Arshdeep Singh to Nissanka, SIX, Nissanka goes bang, and gets to a magnificent T20I hundred! What an innings, and what a player! Arshdeep misses the yorker on the shorter side outside off, and gets the treatment it deserves. Nissanka takes a step across his stumps and boshes it over the bowler's head. Takes his helmet off and soaks in the applause, but deep down, he will know the job is not done yet!

DaWolf: "Only 2 boundaries since the start of the 12th over. Nissanka needs someone scoring from the other end. " -- He is waging a lone battle at the moment.

16.5
1
Arshdeep Singh to Shanaka, 1 run, juicy full toss wide outside off and Arshdeep gets away with this. Shanaka drills it towards Kuldeep at point, who snaps down low to his left. Confusion among the batters but they complete the single in the end

40 off 20, and all of a sudden, SL cannot find any boundaries. Shanaka on strike

16.4
W
Arshdeep Singh to PHKD Mendis, OUT, this has gone way up, and Kamindu bites the dust! Slower ball on a back of a length just outside off. Kamindu looks for that favoured pick-up pull of his but does not have enough pace to work with. Gets under it completely and the ball hangs in the air for an eternity. Axar settles under it at deep backward square leg and snaffles it up. India turning the screw now!
