  • Mustafizur Rahman4-0-33-1
  • Taskin Ahmed4-0-28-3

8:21pm And so, Pakistan have huffed and puffed their way to 135. It seemed they would be on for a lot less, though, especially when they were tottering at 49-5. But not for the first time this Asia Cup, Pakistan's lower order bailed them out. Shaheen, sent up to disrupt the bowling, cleared the fence a couple of times while riding his luck. Nawaz also did something similar later in the innings, with Haris' 31 also vital in the scheme of things. If this will be enough is another matter altogether, but this has definitely given Pakistan something to bowl at.

Bangladesh will be pretty pleased with their bowling effort. Taskin, back in the side tonight, was superb, bagging a three-wicket haul. Rishad was just as impreesive en route another double-wicket spell, with Mahedi and Tanzim not shabby either. Mustafizur was a touch off the boil but barring a few missed chances, this was a performance Bangladesh will be happy with. They now have to get 136 to create a repeat of the 2016 Asia Cup final, and at this stage, they will be fancying their chances. Join us in a bit for the second innings!

Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, 2 runs, juicy full toss on middle and leg and Faheem misses out. Shanks it towards long on and because of how much he mistimed it, he can hurtle back for the second. Pakistan finish bang on 135!

Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, no run, low full toss outside off. Faheem gets under it but does not get under it enough. Powers it on the bounce to long off and Pakistan opt against the run

Rauf has been running so hard that his shoe laces have come unstuck. Tactical break to catch his breath, anyone?

19.4
2
Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, 2 runs, slower ball on a length outside off. Faheem winds up and drags it towards long on. Rishad's throw from the deep is weak and Rauf makes it back comfortably

135 is the lowest score Pakistan have defended in a T20I against Bangladesh, says Simon Doull on commentary

19.3
2
Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, 2 runs, on-pace full toss on middle and off. Faheem cloths it so badly that the ball barely crosses the circle in the mid off region. Rauf hares back for the second to the danger end
19.2
4
Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, FOUR, short, wide and this is not great bowling! With short third and backward point in the ring, not sure what Mustafizur is trying to do here. Faheem throws the plumbing at it and slashes it over short third!
19.2
1w
Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, 1 wide, wild delivery, bowled a country mile outside off. Faheem lets it go and the umpire has to indulge in some more exercise

Mustafizur Rahman to Faheem Ashraf, no run, into the blockhole outside off. Faheem sits deep in his crease and drills it down the ground towards long off. Single denied...

Mustafizur to bowl the last over. A lot rests on Faheem from a Pakistan POV. How far can he take this total? Around the wicket

Taskin Ahmed to Faheem Ashraf, 1 run, full on the pads. Faheem flicks it towards deep mid wicket and is happy to keep strike for the start of the 20th

Jed : "Reckon Pak have enough on the board. Bangladesh's drops which collectively cost them about 40 runs between Nawaz and Afridi will be the difference. Mark my words! " -- Well, isn't that a prediction and some!

18.5
1
Taskin Ahmed to Haris Rauf, 1 run, excellent yorker outside off. Rauf cannot get under it and clinks his slog towards long on

DaWolf: "Nawaz was dropped on 0 off 3 balls, and ended up making 25 off 15. Expensive drop." -- Could yet prove pivotal and telling for Bangladesh.

18.4

Taskin Ahmed to Haris Rauf, no run, off-pace and into the track outside off. Rauf swings his blade like an axe but gets nowhere close to the ball. Rauf's grunt was audible - that was how hard he swung at that!
18.3
2
Taskin Ahmed to Haris Rauf, 2 runs, zipped into the blockhole on middle and leg. Rauf digs it out enough to long on's right and saunters back for two

Rauf in at 10. He can give it a whack too (if he connects)

Taskin Ahmed to Mohammad Nawaz, OUT, goes straight up, and Nawaz bites the dust! Taskin goes fuller outside off and Nawaz's eyes light up, with mid off and extra cover in the ring. He gives it the entire lot but slices it terribly. The ball comes down with snow on it but thankfully for Bangladesh, Emon, who is under it having back-pedaled from extra cover, holds on. Top, top catch given the circumstances, and Nawaz, perhaps Pakistan's death-overs hope, has to go!

6
Taskin Ahmed to Mohammad Nawaz, SIX, Nawaz lays into Taskin first up! Banged into the track outside off but this ball does not have any venom on it. Nawaz stands up on his toes and dumps it over the deep square leg fence!

Two overs left. These two are capable of finding the fence. Can Pakistan push up towards 140? Taskin to bowl the 19th

Mahedi Hasan to Faheem Ashraf, 2 runs, pushed in full on middle and leg. Faheem gets a bit of bat on it and glances it past short fine leg. Taskin opts against the dive and has to then chase it down. Back for a brace

A good comeback by Mahedi after being pumped down the ground off the first ball

Mahedi Hasan to Mohammad Nawaz, 1 run, shorter outside off. Nawaz hangs back and slaps it down the ground to long off

Mahedi Hasan to Faheem Ashraf, 1 run, fired in on a length on middle and leg. Faheem punches it to long on and gets off the mark

Faheem is the new batter in

Mahedi Hasan to Mohammad Haris, OUT, smashed back at Mahedi, and he makes amends! This was the gamble Bangladesh had to take, and it pays off for them. Zipped into the slot on the stumps. Haris backs away and looks to go downtown. Does not get the elevation, though, and drills it flat. Mahedi has his wits about him, and snares a sharp chance to his left with both hands. Haris perishes, and Pakistan will need someone else to provide the finishing kick now!

Mohammad Haris c & b Mahedi Hasan 31 (48m 23b 2x4 1x6) SR: 134.78

Both batters batting without helmets. Sweeps may be off the menu. Over the wicket to Haris

17.2

Mahedi Hasan to Mohammad Nawaz, 1 run, darted in on a length on middle and leg at 105.6kph. Nawaz has a wild slog at it and squirts it off the inside edge towards short fine leg
17.1
6
Mahedi Hasan to Mohammad Nawaz, SIX, going, going, gone! Back of a length outside off and this sits up just the way Nawaz wants it to. He swings through the line and thumps it into the sightscreen!

Three overs left. Mustafizur, Taskin and Mahedi have an over each. Who will bowl which over, though? Pakistan might target the spinner's over. Mahedi from around the wicket

16.5
2
Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammad Nawaz, 2 runs, a massive mix-up and Pakistan, somehow, survive! Dug in short on the stumps. Nawaz rolls his wrists and pulls it towards deep backward square leg. He then decides to hare down for the second, even as Haris does not move a muscle at the other end. Both end up almost at the same end (batter's) but are let off the hook with a weak throw to Jaker, who cannot relay it to the bowler quick enough
16.5
1w
Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammad Nawaz, 1 wide, zipped in very full but also down leg. Nawaz, having advanced, misses his flick and the umpire, after a bit of contemplation, decides to indulge in some exercise

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammad Haris, 1 run, full toss sprayed a mile outside off. Haris moves across, reaches out for it and chunks it off the inside edge into the on side. Would have been a wide had he left it
