8:12pm A better batting effort by Hong Kong, and the most pleasing aspect perhaps was the intent they showed from start to finish. The runs flew at the start, albeit in slightly streaky fashion, but that put Sri Lanka under a bit of pressure. They responded with a quieter passage post the powerplay but Nizakat and Rath getting together sparked a sprightly partnership.

Rath could not bat through till the end, but Nizakat, helped by a stroke of luck, did, and he bagged a half-century for himself, while also taking his team close to 150. Sri Lanka were a little guilty of going searching throughout the innings but towards the end, found their lines and lengths. They will not be too fussed chasing this score, although Hong Kong will also feel they have something to work with. Join us in a bit for the second innings!

Theekshana to Nizakat Khan, no run, zipped into the blockhole on off stump. Nizakat charges, drills it back towards the bowler, who gets his right hand to it and then plays a bit of pin-ball with the non-striker

Looks like Nizakat is battling a bout of cramp. A bit of a delay as he receives treatment

Theekshana to Nizakat Khan, 2 runs, carrom ball hung up wide outside off. Nizakat throws his hands at it and slices it towards deep point. He brings up his half-century and becomes just the second player from Hong Kong to muster a half-century in the T20 version of the Asia Cup!

1
Theekshana to Nizakat Khan, 1 run, into the blockhole on off stump. Nizakat digs it out towards long on. The call, initially, is for two but that was never on. Good work by Hasaranga. That was bowled at 109kph

1
Theekshana to Aizaz Khan, 1 run, jammed in very full outside off. Aizaz skips down and drills it towards long off. Brings Nizakat back on strike

One over left. Hong Kong will be disappointed if they fail to get to 150. That may not be a huge score, but it will continue the trend of batting improvement for them at this Asia Cup

Kasinathan: "Shanaka still has it in him. I am sure he will bowl the 20th over" -- Not quite. Theekshana to bowl the 20th

Chameera to Aizaz Khan, 1 leg bye, full and way outside off. Aizaz moves across, looking for the scoop but makes a meal of it. The ball dribbles towards backward point, who fields it and shies at the bowler's end, only to miss. A direct hit and Aizaz was off!

Chameera to Nizakat Khan, 1 run, another full toss but it is low enough to prevent Nizakat from getting under it. Having advanced, he clinks it down the ground towards long off

Shayan Farhat: "Hey, while we're here, UAE have just beaten Oman. They now have a chance to qualify. Any idea what that scenario is as of now?" -- If all other matches in that group go as per expectations (which is India beating Oman), then Pakistan and UAE will face off in a virtual knockout against each other...

Suyog: "Is this a very good pitch to bat on? In that case, Srilanka will finish the chase in 15-odd overs." -- A very good pitch might be stretching it a bit, but it definitely looks more conducive to stroke-play than some other surfaces at this ground.

Shanaka to Yasim Murtaza, OUT, Shanaka into the attack, and Shanaka into the wickets! Short, wide and this is begging to be hit. Murtaza throws his hands at it trying to do so but only picks out deep backward point to perfection. Murtaza will be kicking himself heading off, especially with short third also in the ring. Shanaka holds his right arm aloft in celebration, and SL keep chipping away!

Thushara to Yasim Murtaza, FOUR, Murtaza is up and running! Full ball on the pads and that is not a great end to the over by Murtaza. He uses his wrists and whips it away behind square, beating deep backward square leg to his left. One bounce and into the fence!

Free hit to tuck into for Nizakat

Thushara to Nizakat Khan, 1 no ball, snapped up at short third, and both set batters are now back in the shed! But hang on...because it is a No ball! Oh dear! Full and wide outside off. Nizakat throws the plumbing at it and the ball hurtles off the outside edge. Perera does well to hold on to it but Sri Lanka will have to do it all over again because of Thushara's front-foot shenanigans!

Interesting call to bowl Thushara out now
