8:26pm Jatinder Singh almost retired from cricket in June 2024 due to an injury. But here he is now, leading Oman into their maiden Asia Cup, hoping to cause an upset or two. Shashank Kishore pens down his story of recovery in the build-up to Oman's opener, and it is the perfect read during this innings break.
8:19pm A strange innings, given the approach Pakistan would have wanted to follow and what they ended up doing. Haris was promoted to No.3 and he provided all the impetus and the big hits towards the end of the powerplay and during the middle overs. Farhan, though, struggled for rhythm throughout, as did most of the other batters, barring Mohammad Nawaz.
Oman will be pretty happy with this effort. At the half-way stage, it seemed Pakistan would push towards 200 but Oman applied the brakes post the drinks break, and did not relent, with their death-bowling also quite tidy, barring the odd over. This will still take some chasing, considering this is a slightly sluggish and two-paced surface and given Pakistan's bowling quality. But Oman have given themselves a shot at it. Join us in a bit for the chase!

Hassnain to bowl the 20th. Fakhar on strike. Can Pakistan get to 160 and beyond? Well, change of plan because Hassnain seems to be struggling with a bout of cramp. Over to Nadeem. Over the wicket

Kasinathan: "Why not Nadeem. Very economical in his spell." -- He might bowl the 20th, although that would still mean he does not finish his quota...
George: "Some poor batting by Pakistan. Giving away wickets. So far the Asia Cup has been underwhelming with the matches being in favour of the bowlers. Pitches should also allow the batsmen to get run on it. " -- Don't think this is a bad surface per se. Batting has been tougher than it would be on a flat track, but as Haris showed, there are runs to be had!

A change of ball seems to be in order. Looks like the seam is coming apart, and that has prompted this change
