9.04pm Well, what an extraordinary innings. Rizwan dropped anchor with 88 from 67, and added 97 with Babar, but thereafter, the innings just failed to ignite, at least until Asif Ali finally got a chance to line up Topley in the final over. Self-inflicted damage from Pakistan at times, a lack of flexibility in their middle-order approach. Vish will be here for Part Two imminently.

Danyal Rasool reckons the chants might have been 'Parchi Parchi', a reference to favouritism... but either way, the sense of disquiet was palpable.

Matthew Mott, England's coach: "It's been an amazing experience, a long time coming for the group, amazing facilities, crowds have been amazing and very fair to us. Been some good cricket. Exciting to get games into young players, looking to rotate through a few. Here to win but building depth before the World Cup. Nothing better for a team than young players coming in and doing well straightaway. We've got some great leaders around this group, Moeen's been exceptional stepping in for Jos. Great effort with the ball, happy with 167, especially when not taking wickets up front. They finished with a flourish but we are quietly confident."

James : "I think the thing we've missed most over the last 17 years is the Pakistan crowd. Knowledgeable, and fair. Nothing like it!" So true, delighted that their enthusiasm hasn't been dimmed in the absence of top-level cricket.
