Player of the Match
Player of the Match

Well, that just about wraps things up for us here. Thanks for joining us, and we'll see you guys again in a couple of days.

Moeen Ali saunters up. "Brilliant performance. We pulled the game back really well. A lot of praise to the bowlers who set it up nicely for our batters. Those crucual wickets around the 10th over made a difference. It wasn't an easy wicket for the new batters. Luke Wood and Adil Rashid were excellent."

Babar up now. "The way we played the first Powerplay was great. After 10 overs, there was a swing of momentum, which you have to credit England for. We didn't have enough big partnerships. Our batters need to step up."

Luke Wood wins the Player of the Match award. "Very enjoyable performance. It's my debut, so can't complain. It's obviously different to England. They had a good start, but you kind of work it out quickly. We kept taking wickets, which was key, and had a pretty good backend."

Luke Wood wins the Master Blaster of the match, while Rizwan wins the complete performer of the match.

Alex Hales wins the best batter of the match

The, ahem, feel-good player of the match award goes to Adil Rashid.

Luke Wood wins the Best bowler of the match award. This isn't the player of the match award, mind

We're about to have the presentation ceremony.

Pakistan comprehensively beaten, and never had control ever since England broke Pakistan's opening partnership really. The home side fell well short of a par score, and England took full advantage to draw first blood.

Sankalp: "Turing team won handsomely. Just plucking low hanging fruit:)" I'll allow this one

Join us again in about ten minutes, when Alan will have the first half of the chase for you.

What a remarkable comeback this has been from the visitors. Moeen Ali has a definite strut in his step as they walk off, and England will fancy chasing this. Just 71 in the final ten overs after Rizwan and Babar had helped get Pakistan off to a brilliant start. But England varied the pace adriotly, and Pakistan's middle order really didn't have much of an answer. Wood was the star on debut, registering figures of 4-0-24-3.

Wood to Khushdil Shah, 1 run, excellent yorker to end the innings. Usman Qadir doesn't time it, only smearing it to long-on, and England have their tails up at the half-way mark.

Usman Dewan: "This was a 190 pitch and Pakistan struggling to get to 160. Serious pondering required before the world cup. "

Wood to Khushdil Shah, no run, full at pace. Slashed down to long-off

Wood to Naseem Shah, OUT, slower ball. Naseem took his eye off the ball and had an almighty heave at it, but doesn't add to the two sixes he struck a couple of weeks ago. He ends up top-edging it to deep fine, and England pick up another

Wood to Khushdil Shah, 1 run, powered down the ground, but only gets a single

W
Wood to Iftikhar Ahmed, OUT, high full toss is timed towards deep midwicket, where Duckett completes a smart catch just within the rope. There was a brief disucussion about a potential no-ball on height, but that wasnt the case. Iftikhar's more miffed he missed out on a juicy full toss, and England get away with one

Wood to Iftikhar Ahmed, SIX, for the second successive over, Iftikhar begins with a six. Anticipates the cutter, goes deep into his crease to give himself the extra fraction of a second and muscles it over mid-off

Curran to Iftikhar Ahmed, no run, loose shot. It was wide outside off. Iftikhar tried to slash it away with no footwork. Gets an inner edge through to Salt

Dr Sabeeh: "I don't understand what's happening here. English pacers are playing with Pakistani hitter. They are just bowling yorkers and batters aren't playing differently to make those yorkers count other than ducking. Excellent bowling"

Ajmal Abbas : "Classical case of middle order collapse. I mean why? How? "

Curran to Khushdil Shah, 1 run, another slower ball, carved over cover-point for a single

Curran to Khushdil Shah, no run, lovely change of pace. Slower ball - 116kph, which beat Khushdil all ends up. He swung like a rusty gate and his bat ended up thwacking fresh air

Curran to Iftikhar Ahmed, SIX, another high full toss, this one from Curran. Iftikhar picks it up beautifully, getting underneath it and helping it over fine leg for a colossal six! Iftikhar wants a free hit too, but that was never going to happen

W
Wood to Mohammad Nawaz, OUT, but as soon as I say that, a 140kph hard length ball beats Nawaz for pace, and sends his stumps cartwheeling.. The batter looked to hoick it over the onside, but went through his shot a touch too late. England in near-total control now

Mohammad Nawaz (3) b Wood 4 (10m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

Ahmad: "can somebody please tell me , What happened here ? is it good bowling, batting or the pitch has changed? " England taking pace off the ball really seems to have helped turn the tide

Willey to Mohammad Nawaz, 1 wide, this one's dragged down leg

Willey to Iftikhar Ahmed, 1 run, eased down the ground

So, about that Iftikhar stumping appeal it appears the umpire had turned away to signal the wide to the scorers, which indicates he considered the ball to be dead. For what it's worth, the batter's foot never really left the crease, so it's a bit of a moot point

16.4
