MI Emirates have absolutely thumped the table-toppers and possibly shaken their confidence with a whopping 154-run victory! It looked like there was no way Desert Vipers could win this uphill battle and they snapped under the scoreboard pressure. Once Fakhar Zaman got out in the powerplay, it was downhill from there and nobody could face the music. MI Emirates were terrific in the field and the bowlers attacked, hit the right areas, triggered mistakes and had an easy day at the office. The carnage earlier from the bats of Tom Banton and Andre Fletcher simply took the game away as they annihilated all of the bowlers. It was a breathtaking batting masterclass from Banton in particular and Fletcher was the perfect foil at the other end
Sam Curran, Desert Vipers Captain: Get (the game) out of the way and move on. That can happen in cricket, we were little off with our fielding and energy. It's such a quick tournament; we play a day after tomorrow and we go again...we can bounce back, no need to panic, it's about learning, reflecting. They both played really well, glad to see fellow Englishman playing really well, Fletcher as well
Nicholas Pooran, MI Emirates Captain: It was pleasing to see. Last two games were tough for us as a group. We had tough conversation with players; players executed the plans and that's really nice to see. Banton and Fletcher's partnership was amazing to see, they hit on the big and short side (of the boundary). It was tough to leave a guy out like that (on Akeal Hosein). He is a team guy and its horses for courses and he accepts that.
Tom Banton, Player of the Match: I didn't get off to a flier just kind of knew the longer I stand the more chance I had. Sometimes you don't time it as well as you like and sometimes you do...you come up against very good bowlers as a top order batter, so you need to have a good technique. It's about looking at match situation and scenario and not just about teeing off. We have come on the back of two losses, and we were a bit under pressure. It's a special night for MI Emirates but we don't want to take it for granted
