The MI Emirates got off to an excellent start. Adam Milne struggled to control the swing of the ball in the opening over, conceding 16 runs. But Southee reversed the trend, first via misunderstanding amongst the batters, running out Spiceman and then dismissing Waseem on the following ball. However, Banton and Perrera were able to establish the tempo and build up to a respectable score on the scoreboard. It was all about Tom Banton today, who scored 84 runs off 51 balls and stayed at the crease till the end of the innings. He laid the groundwork and smashed the bowlers all over the pitch, surpassing 400 runs in this edition of the ILT20. Only the third batter to accomplish so, following Alex Hales and James Vince. Southee bowled excellently, taking up one wicket and conceding little runs. Milne and Madushanka claimed the other two wickets. Can the Sharjah Warriorz win today and advance to the playoffs? We'll find out after a little break.
