9:11pm A rather insipid innings, although credit for that must be given to the MI Emirates bowlers. Farooqi had the batters on toast - first getting the new ball to move and then bamboozling them with his variations. Hosein was tidy at the start too, with all of the other bowlers chipping in and doing what was required.

A one-man show with the bat, from a Capitals POV, with McMullen the only batter to find any sort of rhythm. The pitch was a little tricky to bat on, but with the firepower the defending champions have, DC will need something special to turn this one around. Join us in about ten minutes for the chase!

Brandon McMullen: It was a lot of fun out there. Was in quite early and expressed myself. (On the pitch) It was a tricky one. The grass layer made it tennis-ball bouncy. It was slower and tough to get it away, had to cash in if you spent time. Did not sleep too much last time (and was nervous). I was in Nepal for that T20 league and it was an awesome experience, then home for Christmas and came out here. If we stick to our plans, it is definitely a defendable total. Combination of both (spin and seam), the length is key here.

Zahoor Khan to Farhan Khan, 2 runs, angled in full on the stumps. Farhan has a huge swing at it and shanks it off the inside half of the bat towards deep square leg. The innings ends with a brace

Zahoor Khan to Farhan Khan, no run, a comedy of errors! Full and zipping into the pads. Farhan misses and the ball rolls off the pads towards the bowler. Farhan also sets off for the single, only to be sent back. Zahoor makes a rather shoddy attempt to hit the stumps at the batter's end and misses with his underarm throw

Zahoor Khan to Farhan Khan, 1 wide, a rare wayward delivery. Sliding well down leg and Farhan lets it go. Called a wide

Farhan is the new batter

Zahoor Khan to McCoy, OUT, a run-out, and the wheels are falling off now! Full and wide again. McCoy cannot dig it out and Naib, watching this unfold from the other end, decides to take a chance. Bad idea. Very bad idea. Pooran collects cleanly, lines up his throw and hits the stumps at the batter's end, with Naib well short!

W
Fazalhaq Farooqi to Stone, OUT, Farooqi gets five, and that is an emphatic end to an exceptional spell! Another heat-seeking missile, which has its eyes set on middle stump. Stone tries, rather ambitiously, to lap it away and that effort ends up in vain. Misses it completely and he hears the death artle soon after. Farooqi performs the Sajda in celebration and everyone on his team is thrilled to bits, as would be thousands of MI Emirates fans!

Fazalhaq Farooqi to Shanaka, OUT, another high ball and this time, Shanaka perishes! Banged into the track outside off. Shanaka has a wild whoosh across the line and the ball goes nowhere. Pollard settles under it at extra cover and takes it. Third time lucky for the veteran and that is wicket no.4 on the night for Farooqi!

W
Fazalhaq Farooqi to Powell, OUT, cleans him up with a corker! Wasim Akram in the commentary box would have been proud of this. Angling into middle stump. Right under the bat and Powell cannot jam it out. Not many could have jammed it out, to be honest, and the Capitals lose another!
