Reigning champions held their nerve in this crucial clash, eking out a win after misfiring with the bat. Despite the early setback with the bat and losing the toss, the team remained in high spirits and coordinated effectively as a unit, fighting till the end and created enormous pressure on Capitals which was evident by as many as three run-outs! Giants bag 8 points, jumping to the third spot. The competition intensifies with each game and it remains to be seen which teams will join MI Emirates and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the final four. Capitals were brilliant with the ball but their progress was beset by the loss of wickets at regular intervals in the chase as they fumbled. They have only themselves to blame for a lacklustre batting performance. The most pleasing aspect of the game for me was to see the spin masterclass from Aayan Khan and Zuhaib Zubair - young talent shining through and hogging the limelight for Giants. Earlier, Olly Stone ripped through the Giants' batting line-up with a venomous fast bowling spell. Scott Kuggeleijn was excellent with the ball too and so was Kane Richardson--who was canny with his bag of tricks. Hope you had fun following all the drama tonight. We hope you'll join us tomorrow for more ILT20 action! For now, it's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid, on behalf of the entire team at ESPNcricinfo

David Warner, Dubai Capitals Captain: Bowling unit did exceptionally well and got wickets, we should have got this total. We lost wickets in clumps and it's been a trend for us throughout the tournament. We can't discredit our bowlers, you bowl team at 127, you take that every day of the week, doesn't help our net run rate.

James Vince, Gulf Giants Captain: Not the ideal start with the bat, dew normally comes on later and makes it a better wicket, bowlers did well, needed some run-outs, sometimes you need to find a way to win. Some balls were coming on well some not, it swung early but it was two paced that made it hard to commit to shots. We knew we had to take early wickets, got three inside the powerplay, run-rate was high. We were one or two wickets away to squeeze in, just one of those where you have to get things right, job not done, but great win for us.

Hari: "Poor game awareness from Ali."

Kev: "Dasun already sent Haider back earlier and indicated he doesn't want the single. Why did Haider run? Such an unnecessary premature conclusion to this game, would've liked to see if it went the distance.." Nerves

shaneeqa: "I never understood why Shanaka exposes the tail. Could've easily refused the single in the last ball of the previous over."

Overton to Shanaka, OUT, Now is that a clean run-out? Yes, it is and it's all over for Capitals. Haider Ali was halway down the pitch as Shanaka glances this off hips to short fine, Muzarabani pinged a sharp throw to Overton who showed amazing awareness and even though he was down on the ground, still made sure to whip off the bails. Haider is well short of the crease, belated attempt to run back seemed futile. I just felt Shanaka would have taken his side over the line with some support but what a game of cricket, so many ebbs and flows, twists and turns, an exhilarating low-scoring thriller but Capitals game to lose!

Haider Ali run out 3 (17m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 60.00

Overton to Shanaka, FOUR, In the slot and ramped away! Misses the yorker and he slaughters this low-full toss over Hetmyer at cover for a brilliant boundary, what a response after that nasty blow on the helmet

Overton to Shanaka, no run, Bouncer shoots up quickly and hits him on the neck guard which is off! That's a well-directed bumper that lifts alarmingly off the deck, concussion check underway, looks okay to continue. Got late on the pull and the ball followed him

Jordan to Haider Ali, no run, Shrieking for a lbw and umpire shakes his head, Giants take the review. Nothing on the ultraedge. Pitching outside leg so we won't go any further and the review is lost. Pitched up and held its line on middle

Jordan to Shanaka, no run, Pitched full again and the shot was on, lashes it down the ground and got non-striker in the way, unlucky

Jordan to Shanaka, FOUR, Goes for a yorker but he's equal to the task, that's a marvelously fashioned four through James Vince extra cover and it has got just enough legs to reach the fence, a timely boundary for Capitals!

Overton to Shanaka, 1 run, Over the wicket, rams the yorker not quite right in the blockhole, gently caressed down to long-on and it's like a Test match where you have to farm the strike while batting alongside tailenders, does well to find a single
