3:55pm An excellent outing for the Vipers' batters, with Hales again leading their charge - this time, scoring 99 off 57 balls. Mustafa did his bit at the start too. Munro also made his presence felt in the middle overs, although this innings was all about Hales and his clean striking. Towards the end, the Vipers lost a bit of steam but they have 195 on the board, which is a very good total to defend on a used surface.

The Giants, on the other hand, would not be very pleased with how they bowled throughout the innings. They offered too many loose deliveries and were made to pay by Hales. That said, they have a strong batting line-up themselves and on a pitch that has not played many tricks so far, would be quietly confident of making a fist of this run-chase. Do join us in a bit for the second innings!

Alex Hales: Gutted to not get it (the hundred). I thought I had got enough on it but good bowling by CJ. Slower balls bowled into the pitch were difficult to get away. If we bowl well, we should have enough. In the powerplay, I have tried to give myself more of a chance. Just trying to play as much smart cricket as possible.

Jordan to Rutherford, SIX, big shot! In the slot on middle and off stump. Rutherford opens up his stance and pounds it well over the long on fence! What a finish to the innings!

Jordan to Billings, 1 run, full delivery on middle and off stump. Billings sits deep in his crease and flicks it towards deep square leg for just a single

Jordan to Rutherford, 1 run, full toss outside off stump again. Rutherford slices it but this time, can't beat the two fielders stationed very close to each other in the short third man region

Jordan to Rutherford, FOUR, edged and four! Low full toss outside off stump. Rutherford throws his hands at it and gets a thick outside edge that races past short third man

Jordan to Billings, 1 bye, length outside off stump again. Billings continues swinging like a rusty gate and misses. Rutherford, though, calls him through for a bye and makes it because the keeper misses his shy at the batter's end. Rutherford was not even in the frame there!

Oh, hang on. The last ball of the previous over actually kissed the gloves but the Giants could not review because they did not have any reviews left

Jordan to Billings, no run, back of a length delivery outside off stump. Billings has a swish at it but is slightly late on the stroke as the ball goes past the flailing bat

Jordan to bowl the final over of the innings. Can the Vipers get up to 200? They will need a massive finish for that!

Gleeson to Rutherford, no run, back of a length delivery down the leg side. Rutherford swings at it and misses. That might have scraped the thigh pad, possibly explaining why the umpire did not call it a wide

Gleeson to Rutherford, no run, banged into the track at the batter on leg stump. Rutherford decides very early he wants to duck underneath it and does so comfortably

Gleeson to Rutherford, no run, oh dear! Slower delivery dug into the track on off stump. Rutherford has a swish at it and seems to get a top edge before the ball thuds into the helmet. That looks a very painful blow. The ball did not hit the bat but went off the forearm into his helmet

Gleeson to Rutherford, FOUR, clean strike! Full delivery just outside off stump. Rutherford sits back in his crease and smacks it over mid off for a much-needed boundary!

Gleeson to Billings, 1 bye, slower bumper outside off stump. Billings swipes at it and misses. The keeper, though, fumbles and allows a bye

Wiese to Curran, OUT, knocks him over first ball! Yorker that starts just outside off stump and tails into the batter very late. Curran has a swing at it but the inward movement means that the ball breezes past the inside edge and crashes into the base of off stump!

Jordan to Hales, OUT, dismissed on 99! Can you believe it!? Full delivery outside off stump. Hales sits back in his crease and looks to carve it over deep cover point. He gets decent contact too but just does not get enough elevation. Hetmyer circles around on the fence and completes the catch! But take nothing away from what has again been a splendid innings!
