3.43pm Joe Root the star of the show as he ends the innings 80 not out off 54 balls. He did not get going right away, but made sure to rotate the strike well and get the important boundaries when required. Warriors started well getting rid of Uthappa and Suri in quick succession. But Lawrence and Root dug in with an 82-run stand off 59 balls, before Powell belted 44 off 27 to get Capitals to 177 for 4. Woakes and Naveen picked two wickets apiece, while Noor Ahmad was economical. Can Warriors get their first points? Join Himanshu in a bit to find out.

Here's Joe Root: Nice to contribute today and I think we have got a reasonable score. After the start, especially. A couple of important partnerships, and we got it done. [On the surface] You have to hold your length here, and bowl the slower balls. It didn't feel like a belting wicket, but they have a few good batters.

Yoel: "I think Moeen missed a trick with his bowling selections. He had experienced part-timers such as Nabi, Denly and himself, but chose to to go with young and unproven death bowlers."

Woakes sprints across, completes a good catch, and takes a tumble soon after. Flashes a smile.
