David Warner: "I was just playing second fiddle to Trav. I was just trying to rotate strike as much as I could. When they pitched it full it was actually quite hard, but there were a lot of cross-bat shots with the shorter lengths. [Is this his last ODI on home soil?] A lot of us were talking about this at the SCG. Another 14 Test matches, I think, before we play another white-ball game in Australia. You never know, I might be back in 2024."

6.49pm And if that appears a tall total, England will have to chase even more. Their DLS-adjusted target is 364 in 48 overs. A spectacular batting display from Australia, particularly from Travis Head and David Warner, but there was some indifferent bowling too. As Warner's comments above suggest, England may well have bowled the wrong lengths on this pitch. Can Australia do better, or will England's batting might down this incredibly steep target? We'll find out soon, when Andrew McGlashan returns to bring you the chase.

Duncan: "Why is the target being adjusted upwards if both teams are batting 48 overs please?" -- Australia began their innings, and batted for most of it, with the idea that they were building towards a 50-overs innings.

Jan: "Will Australia defend it? They have history of giving away 350 in chase." -- True. Four of the nine successful 350-plus chases in ODIs have come against Australia.

Stone to Labuschagne, 2 runs, full, angling into the stumps, gets his front leg out of the way and swipes towards deep midwicket, to his right. They hurry through for two, and Australia end with 355 for 5

2
Stone to Labuschagne, 2 runs, clears his front leg, and slightly slices the attempted hit over mid-on. Hits it straight back down the ground, up over the bowler's head
47.4
4
Stone to Labuschagne, FOUR, steps to the leg side and Stone fails to create enough of an inward angle with the short ball to cramp him on the pull. Ends up playing a Smith-style overhead smash, and nails it wide of mid-on

Stone to Labuschagne, no run,

Marnus Labuschagne is in at No. 7.

47.2
W
Stone to Marsh, OUT, full slower ball outside off, and the attempted big hit over extra-cover/mid-off ends up as a slice over the cover region. Extra-cover does well to move to his left and get under it with a tumbling finish. Dawson the fielder

MR Marsh c Dawson b Stone 30 (26m 16b 1x4 2x6) SR: 187.50

Stone to Marsh, SIX, and Marsh is looking to finish this innings spectacularly. Short on off stump, and he was ready for it, front leg out of the way, to hammer a pull over the midwicket boundary

Stone to finish.

Willey to Carey, 2 runs, makes room again and Willey goes short, into the pitch. Pulled to the right of deep midwicket
46.6
1w
Willey to Carey, 1 wide, another leg-side wide. Again in the attempt to follow Carey's movement to the leg side, ends up slanting it further than he'd like. Full ball, and Carey can't get his bat round quickly enough to flick it away
46.5
1
Willey to Marsh, 1 run, looks for the wide yorker, gets his line right even if the length isn't quite as full as he'd like. Forces Marsh to reach out and slap it to deep cover point
46.4
1
Willey to Carey, 1 run, short ball on the stumps, hooked along the ground to fine leg
46.3
4
Willey to Carey, FOUR, steps leg side again and Willey bowls a slower ball into the pitch. Doesn't follow him enough with his line, and he can free his arms just enough to flat-bat it down the ground, and hit it hard enough to beat long-on to his right
46.3
1w
Willey to Carey, 1 wide, looks to follow Carey again, ends up slanting it a long way down the leg side, past the attempted swipe
46.2

Two more overs. Can Australia get to the top of this list? Here's Willey to bowl his ninth. Left-arm over

Here's Alex Carey. Stone goes round the wicket to the left-hander.

W
Stone to Smith, OUT, takes a big step across to the off side early, and Stone responds with a back-of-a-length ball that follows his movement. Looks to help it to fine leg, and gets a little tickle of glove to the keeper. Only Buttler really appeals, and Paul Wilson raises his finger to send Smith on his way. Buttler was actually making the review gesture just as Wilson was beginning to raise his finger

Stone to Marsh, 1 run, in the blockhole just outside off. Wants to whip it through midwicket, ends up getting a thick inside edge to fine leg

  • Steven Smith21 (15b)

  • Chris Woakes10-0-62-0

An all-action over. Fifteen runs off it.

2
Curran to Smith, 2 runs, now he gets the length right on a yorker outside off, jams his bat down and stabs it to the left of deep cover point
44.5
2
Curran to Smith, 2 runs, full, slanting away from off stump, jabbed down the ground to the right of long-off
44.4
4
Curran to Smith, FOUR, superb hands from Smith. SuryakumarYadavesque. Wide length ball, offcutter, it's always going away from him, and he reaches out, opens his bat face with a twist of his wrists, and slices it up and over the gap between backward point and short third
