So that's it from us for now. The third game is on the 18th. Do join us for that. Meanwhile lots of cricketing action around the globe going on, do check that out. Plus all the analysis, the report and the reaction to this game. On behalf of Sudarshanan and our scorer Vairavan along with Srinidhi who is on report duties, signing off from here. Stay safe and ta, ta!
Unfortunately the presentation isn't being shown, so we will sign off with a few user feedback.
Kapil Baldawa: "Kaur seriously needs a break. This isn't smart from such an experienced player. Bowling wides, firing the ball in rather than looking to deceive batter.. its all gone down after a great start with the ball"
Virat: "India's fielding is not upto international level. They need to improve to be competitive.."
Sundar: "What a train wreck of a defence for the last 30 runs. Wides, boundary balls, missed run outs, easy singles. I'll be surprised if they make the SF in the upcoming WC. Terrible team. "
Vidhya: "What a game of cricket from both the sides. NZ has come on top once again. Indians improved well in this game but unable to taste sucess again through that eluding win. However, they would have taken some good learnings from here - strike rotation, controlled fast bowling, direct hits in the field etc etc. Came close in this match but seemed very far yet."
Eku: "Very bad captaincy from Mithali Raj. Why don't you use your frontline quick bowlers and back them? Using part time bowler like Kaur in death overs is bad decision. Kerr was sweeping and scoring runs easily against spin. Mithali having 200 games of experience and not using her mind in crucial moments of game. Not satisfied at allâŠ"
Bala: "Very true - a very great win for NZ. The resurrection of innings mid-way through Maddy-Kerr partnership should be the turning point of the result. Had we seen a similar partnership between Mithali-Kaur, we could have possible seen a different result. All part of the game."
17:56 local: What a win for New Zealand. They were in a lot of strife at 55/3 when Amy Satterthwaite went soon after Devine had gone to a special catch. But Amelia Kerr stepped in big-time and along with Maddy Green resurrected the innings with a stand of 128 for the fourth wicket. Amelia played the anchor's role to perfection in that stand and despite India chipping away at the wickets after the stand was broken, she stayed calm and steered her side home with her second ODI ton. For India it was another missed opportunity after having got Bates, Devine and Satterthwaite early. The spinners - Gayakwad, Poonam and Deepti were outstanding but Kaur was expensive. Also Vastrakar was off-color today and India did not have a middle-overs enforcer to break the Kerr-Green stand. A really close game and it is New Zealand who have come out on top.
5 fielders in on the off-side, one on the leg-side, 3 on the fence on leg. The plan is to keep Jess on strike
Still no change in the field
