8.16pm That's the end of that, an entertaining tussle, and a series lead for England. From Miller and Valkerie, good night!

The Player of the Match is Heather Knight "Ironically we talked about approaching batting on slower, tougher wickets, and we fell short. Brunty was brilliant in adding some momentum, and the way she bowled at the top was unbelievable. We wanted 20 more, you had to really extend your partnerships, hide your ego as a batter, and be disciplined in what you attacked. A lot of learning, a bit closer than it felt in the end. We want to find ways to add to the team and improve it, as well as have a wider squad. Very frustrated at times in that innings, annoying [not to get three figures]. We've committed to managing players through the series."

Sophie Devine: "We got very close in the end, the deeper we take it, the closer we can get. We thought 250 was par on this wicket, very sedate, we knew we were capable but didn't keep wickets in hand. We saw the damage the lower order can do, it's one that got away, and that's the positive. We know that the game is going to ebb and flow, got to hang tough at times."

8.04pm Well, that got a bit squeaky in real time, but it's comfortable in the final analysis. Two outstanding innings on the night, one from Amy Satterthwaite, who finishes unbeaten on 79, the other from Heather Knight, who top-scored with 89. But it was the lack of support that proved the key for New Zealand. England had handy innings of 44 from Beaumont and 43 from Brunt, but until the tail wagged with the game all but lost, only Sophie Devine's 34 offered any support. A fine allround bowling performance defends a sub-par total of 241, and England are 1-0 up in the series.

Cross to Kasperek, OUT, clipped to mid-on, a sharp single, as the direct hit comes in, but Kasperek looks composed... ooh, hello! She was coasting! Winfield-Hill wins the match with a ping! She took a beat to line up the shy... and that was poor running at such a key moment, a stretch of the bat, and Kasperek would have been safely home
