Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar are the opening batsmen for Bangladesh. Kraigg Brathwaite has given the responsibilty of opening to Shannon Gabriel, who starts around the wicket with two slips and short leg in place
2.12 pm Back for the final session. Bangladesh have 35 overs to bat out here, and hope to make some good runs to reverse some of the momentum, which is inarguably with West Indies right now.
Tea has been taken, around 15 minutes before the scheduled time. There would've been a ten minute break for change of innings and only five minutes of batting before the session would close, so the umpires have taken the common-sense route.
1.55pm So that was an entertaining first innings of this second Test. Four-fors for Jayed and Taijul, with Mehidy stranded on his 99th Test scalp, but the headline today belongs to Joshua Da Silva (92) and Alzarri Joseph (82). Their 118-run stand after Nkrumah Bonner (90) fell in the first session absolutely decimated Bangladesh's morale. But then a flurry of lower-order wickets has given the hosts something to smile about. That smile was missing for most of today's play.
Don't forget the batting yesterday either. John Campbell and Kraigg Brathwaite gave them a solid start after winning the toss. And then a brief stutter before Bonner and Blackwood pulled things back. West Indies aimed for 350 atleast at the start of today's play, and they have exceeded that target by over 50 runs.
Saadat: "Jayed is showing what BD is missing. Another pacer. Hope BD learn from this series. "
A F M Ashrafur : "Who knows there might not be any 2nd innings batting for WI. History says it all. In such pressure cooker situation BAN always get boiled lot earlier than expected."
