14.5 Gets the big fish! Inverses his stance on this full delivery and tries to spank it over cover but cannot connect properly and drags it back onto the stumps. Vicious fist-pump and a fiery celebration from the bowler. It's a fabulous knock; he came in when Kandy were in a spot of bother but he put the pressure back on the bowlers and showed a wide array of shots in his quickfire 81 138/4
5.3 Goes for the big shot towards the leg side and gets castled! What a searing yorker on middle, dipping in, and he cannot jam his bat down in the nick of time. That's a huge breakthrough! Thusara absolutely bamboozled him with a pinpoint yorker 51/1
6.1 Chopped on! Wellalage becomes the leading wicket-taker and flummoxes Chandimal with an accurate delivery! Tossed up on a length and gets it to spin away outside off, he languidly tries to cut it off the backfoot, a touch late and gets a big inside edge onto the stumps. Success straightaway for Wellalage who is having a phenomenal tournament. 52/2
7.4 Madushanka gets him with a beauty! Climbing through from back of a length and it disturbs the furniture! Summons a well-disguised slower one that nips into the stumps and goes through his defence, he was trying to play it down the ground and was not behind the line as he took a step towards off stump and exposed his stumps. 63/3
16.1 That came off the sweet spot but he didn't get much distance, holed out to David Miller at deep midwicket. Shot was on but just couldn't get enough power as he went back in his crease and spanked high and not entirely mighty 145/5
18.5 Got the toe-end of the bat and fielder at long-off gobbles it up gleefully! He sticks to his guns, bowls at a tight off stump line and induces a false shot. he has used his big of tricks cleverly today 167/6
19.1 Good length outside off, chopped away to point and Asif Ali is way out of his crease at the non-striker's end which is quite puzzling given the ball went straight to the fielder inside the ring. 168/7
19.5 Slower one banged into the pitch and he tries to clobber that out of the park, didn't get all of it, looking a bit ungainly on this pull off the backfoot. Fielder at deep square (Priyamal Perera) hangs onto it brilliantly 177/8

2.1 Hangs back in his crease and goes for the big shot. With no feet movement, tries to cart that deep midwicket, got across the line and finds Asif Ali at deep square who pockets the catch low down. That went miles up in the air as he got a touch late in pulling that one and wasn't on top of the bounce. Mathews does it again, provides vital breakthrough in the powerplay. He just knows how to pick wickets, such a canny operator 10/2
0.6 Looks to reach out and drive, but looks like he has got a feather edge to the keeper. Late swing in for Mathews. There is a spike as the ball goes past the bat. Chandimal has taken it cleanly behind the stumps and the third umpire is satisfied after taking a look from different angles as Kandy draws first blood - they have got the swashbuckling opener early in the piece! 3/1
8.3 Straight up Haris throat at deep midwicket! Swings the next ball with vigour but finds the fielder who didn't have to move a muscle to take that catch. Length ball banged into the deck and got to him quickly as he lost his shape on this whippy pull. A prized scalp because he is a dangerous customer, can take the game away in a matter of few overs 51/4
4.1 Angelo Mathews is on fire! He threads the needle to find just enough seam movement outside off from a probing shortish length and the ball takes the outside edge to the keeper. Asalanka departs for two and Jaffna are in dire straits now! Ball just kissed the outside edge as tried to scythe that away to third man, stunning bowling 16/3

12.4 Chopped on! Length ball with no pace on offer, jags back and he misjudges the pace, tries to cut a ball that is too close to the stumps, ends up making a mess of his stumps. Oh, this is a massive breakthrough in the context of the game 90/5
17.5 Is there a twist in this tale? Massive swish outside off and he tickles it to Chandimal. Perera perishes after a valiant 36 so it's all down to Malik now! He has found himself in a similar situation on many occasions while playing for Pakistan. Can he roll back the years and get Jaffna over the line? 150/6
