Commentator: Madushka Balasuriya
And with that it's a wrap of our coverage for the day. We now head into a two-day break as the action moves from Colombo to Kandy. Join us again on Friday for what is sure to be another action-packed double header. But for now, this is Madushka, on behalf of Ashish, saying ciao!
Galle skipper Dasun Shanaka: "Seifert and Shakib showed how to bat on this surface and how good they are in this format. They have played all around the world and know how to operate, it's something the local boys should learn from."
Kandy skipper Wanindu Hasaranga: "We haven't played our best cricket. We have six games to play, we should keep our heads up. We've not done our best in all three departments. [Going to Kandy next] No pressure, we have nothing to lose. We need to come back and we hope to do that."
Player of the Match unsurprisingly goes to Tim Seifert for his game changing 74 off 39: "Just wanted to be positive, keep momentum and put the seam bowlers under pressure. And keep rotating strike off the good balls. Two from two so hope the boys keep it up." He also gets the award for Striker of the Match for his five 4s and five 6s.
Time now for the presentation ceremony
As for Kandy, despite a pretty stacked bowling line-up, twice their batting has been found wanting. How will they shake things up going forward in this tournament? Both their big ticket signings in Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews have flopped, will they continue to perservere with the pair? Lot of questions, but they'll have to answer them quick.
11.05pm So Kandy certainly not feeling the love this season with this crushing defeat now their worst ever in the LPL, but as for Galle they are looking like strong frontrunners early on. This was a win though that owed a lot to Tim Seifert and his 39-ball 74, but really with the likes of Shakib, Shanaka and Rajapaksa in the side, this is a side that has power hitters right throughout their batting line up. And on a wicket that was extremely sticky for batting, that was exactly what was needed. Then each of their bowlers pitched in with all picking up wickets, as Kandy folded under the scoreboard pressure.
