Player of the Match

What a way to bounce back and Jaffna showed the loss in the last game was just a one-off. They are back to leading the table and Galle have been handed their first loss. That's all that we have for you today, thanks for tuning in. We'll be back nice and early for the two LPL games tomorrow. Till then, good night and rest well. Ciao!

Thisara Perera: The bowlers did a great job. There was no dew last night, but there was more dew today. Gurbaz and Hridoy are classical batsmen. The dew does not effect then. We rested two players today, but I have a good bench of players and I am happy. Sometimes I can't give him [Wellalage] bowling, it all depends on the wicket.

Dasun Shanaka: Of course tough night. They bowled really well. If we stick to our strengths we could have done better with the bat. This was a 150 wicket. Shakib and Tim batted exceptionally well last match. But such things happen.

Dunith Wellalage is the Player of the Match for his 4 for 10: These days I practice really well. My coaches and team always support me and I trust myself. The pitch was slow and I tried to bowl some variations and use the crease. I always trust myself and my team. My skipper gave me great support.

Presentation time

10.25pm Jaffna move to the top of the table with that big win. They were always going in the chase with their noses in front but the way they went about it just shows why they have won all those LPL titles. Rahmanullah Gurbaz started off with a four, so did Charith Asalanka. While Asalanka fell to Shakib, Gurbaz remained unmoved. He smashed 54 off 39 balls with three fours and five sixes, while Towhid Hridoy smashed 44* off 23. They added 83 off 52 for the second wicket and the chase was almost done there. Only Shakib Al Hasan had two wickets to show for in an otherwise insipid bowling effort.

Dananjaya to Towhid Hridoy, SIX, Thank You very much says Hridoy as he finishes things off in style! Floated outside off, was the leg break. He gets across and swats it over wide long on. Jaffna have thumped Galle by eight wickets and 44 balls to spare. A proper statement win that after the loss they suffered in their previous outing against Dambulla Aura

Dananjaya to Towhid Hridoy, SIX, Drag down and dispatched with disdain! Another googly goes wrong as he gets the short ball on leg stump. Hridoy swings at it and deposits it deep over deep square leg.
