4:39pm A fairly underwhelming batting display by the Stars, which began with their openers departing for ducks. The rest of the top order did not fare any better, although Madushka tried his best to consolidate with a 44-ball 35. Drakes then turbocharged the Stars to a total in excess of 120, and while that might not be enough on a surface that has not played a lot of tricks, it gives them something to bowl at.

The Kings, meanwhile, would be thrilled with their bowling performance. Skipper Perera got things underway with a couple of wickets in the powerplay. The rest of his bowling unit followed suit thereafter and it never felt that they would cede the initiative.
