4:48pm The Kings lost both openers inside the powerplay. Afif and Samarawickrama, though, batted beautifully in the middle overs to offset those early dismissals. Afif, in particular, shifted through the gears seamlessly and maximised on the scoring opportunities that came his way. He ended up with a 35-ball 54, and that, coupled with Perera's 13-ball 26 threatened a score in excess of 180. But towards the end, they fell away and only managed 11 runs off the final two overs.

Galle, much like yesterday, lacked penetration for large stretches. Wahab, though, burst into life in the middle overs, picking up Malik and Samarawickrama in the 14th over. They ended well at the death too, with Thushara conceding eight runs off the penultimate over, and Pradeep only giving away three runs in the final over. It was not a spotless bowling display by any stretch, but on this surface, with a 171-run target to chase, they are still very much in the game. Do join us in a bit for the second innings!

Afif Hossain: I was really excited to play this tournament, and I am really happy. I have played in the BPL with some of these guys. (On the total) I think we have a good total. If we bowl in the right areas, I think we can restrict them.
