5.02pm Laurie Evans, take a bow. A superb century, the first of the tournament and the second of his career, was the mainstay of an innings which got a bit of a late boost from Andre Russell but by and large was a one-man show.

"A good day, finally paying off," says Evans. "As a batter, playing around the world, you have to adapt to conditions to give yourself the best chance. I'm usually middle order, but opening is a great opportunity. It's a tough wicket and they bowled extremely well. I was fortunate not to sky one up in the air. A good score, but if Dre had got going, we might have been looking at 180-190..."

Well, let's see what Matt Roller has to say about all that. He'll be here shortly for Jaffna's response.

W
Lakmal to Russell, OUT, Russell runs himself out with an unlucky drive into the stumps! Timed well enough, but placed too well, too straight, and as the ball stops dead on the base of the stumps, Lakmal has the presence of mind to uproot the stump with the bails already off. That's the end of that

AD Russell run out 21 (14b 2x4 1x6) SR: 150.00

Raj Silva: "@Rakesh, re: Russel's batting, don't forget, Sri Lankan bowers have been bowling particularly well, not giving room to free his arms."

4
Lakmal to Russell, FOUR, flipped off the pads, and that's placed to perfection between the two leg-side sweepers. Midwicket might have done better, to be fair, but it was travelling
19.4
1
Lakmal to Evans, 1 run, that one misses the mark, but Evans mistimes the wipe across the line, one bounce to deep midwicket
19.3
1
Lakmal to Russell, 1 run, low full toss, almost a yorker, draws a compact drive to long-off, well timed but straight at the man
19.3
1w
Lakmal to Russell, 1 wide, fired down the leg side, Russell almost over-balances in his eagerness to pull out of the stroke and accept the extra
19.2
1
Lakmal to Evans, 1 run, hits the deck hard, Evans is cramped on the pull as he adjusts late
19.1
4
Lakmal to Evans, FOUR, bottom-handed bunt through the covers! That was all about the angles as Evans opened up his stance to drill the full length in front of the cover sweeper. Impressive start

One over to go. How big is your finish?

Olivier to Russell, no run, fuller length, wider line, an abhorrent wind-up-and-miss as Russell groans audibly as the ball fizzes by

Rakesh: "Russell has been disappointing over the last few games as he really has been unable to get going with the bat. On this small boundaries ground, his strike rate should be over 200, but he has got out cheaply without adding any great momentum to the innings in last few games"

Olivier to Russell, no run, a swing and a miss! Olivier pulls his length back once more, but this time with more intent behind the ball, through Russell before his swing caught up
18.4
1
Olivier to Evans, 1 run, bottom-handed thump to long-on, just the single
18.3
1
Olivier to Russell, 1 run, that's a better length, spearing in the fuller ball and settling for the chiselled single to long-on
18.2
6
Olivier to Russell, SIX, short, and that's what Russell can do! Poor ball, hitting the deck halfway down, sits up and begs for mercy, and none is forthcoming as Russell bludgeons it over long-on!

2
Olivier to Russell, 2 runs, a miscued hack, spirals down to third man but Fernando's sprawling effort can't make the ground!

PW Hasaranga to Russell, 1 run, on the pads, nudged to midwicket to complete another over. What's feasible from here? 180 would be handy if either man cuts loose ...

PW Hasaranga to Evans, 1 run, leaning back, and carved out to cover

2
PW Hasaranga to Evans, 2 runs, flipped off the legs behind square, into into enough of a gap to turn for the second, and up comes a tremendous 60-ball century!. Gosh

PW Hasaranga to Evans, no run, advances to the pitch, but de Silva sees him coming and drags his length back to thump his pads. Well bowled

1
PW Hasaranga to Russell, 1 run, nibbled to the leg side for another single, handing the strike back

Rocky: "Someone says that Evan is batting on a different deck but I would say that the bowling from Jafna is gully standard & the way they are bowling they might face a target of 210"

Olivier to Russell, FOUR, short and wide, Russell wafts a fishing rod at that one, and catches a fly through third man. Dabbed by Russell's standards, but mightily effective
