Alan: "was looking forward to this especially this Sri Lankan team , must say im pretty satisfied so far , good performance from india too, still think india has the edge, but its never over till its over , lets see how it pans out "

UJACK: "Great finish by SL! This new look team exceeded expectations, for sure. Should be interesting, since this is not exactly an easy deck for the batters."

Karthik: "What a little gem there from Karunaratne. Played like a proper bat to give SL a much needed lift. "

Mike: "That is not an impressive last over from Bhuvi."

Ashish: "This is above par total on a surface which is slow. The ball is not coming on nicely on the bat. If the openers don't get a decent start, it's goong to be hard work for Indian batting."

Nirmal: "This is very good score for this indian middle order, Dhawan and Hardik Pandya going to decide this game. Common Srilanka get 10 points."

Siripala Ayya: "Not bad SL, after the mauling they received in England, I'm impressed. "

Rivlud : "Slightly disapppointed with Bhuvi's bowling display, failing to pick up wickets in the firdt 10 abd then being poor at the back end! He definitely needs to work on his lenght and accuracy because he's normally economical and rips out key batsmen!"

6.47pm Big, booming finish there from Sri Lanka. It is the 2nd highest score in ODIs for a team without a sngle 50-run stand. Karunaratne the only player to get past 40 today, and he did it with some force at the end. But it also tells the story - Sri Lanka looked in control for certain periods, and suddenly they weren't anymore. Starts all the way from the start up to the lower middle order. No one managing to stamp their authority for a long enough time, and maybe that's the difference between 280-plus and 262. Still, it's never an easy chase. There is some assistance in this pitch for the spinners. Whether that holds with the dew remains to be seen. It was two wickets each for Kuldeep and Chahal, two for Chahar as well, and five overs of bowling for Hardik Pandya that were the highlights for India. So too was Krunal's miserly spell. All in all, a pretty competitive first innings to the tour. Let's see how the chase goes in a bit.

Kumar to Chameera, OUT, nails the yorker at last and then picks up the ball on the bounce to get the run-out at the other end. It was jammed straight back at him and he turned, held his composure, and rolled the ball onto the stumps as they attempted a run

PVD Chameera run out 13 (19m 7b 1x4 1x6) SR: 185.71

1
Kumar to Karunaratne, 1 run, good length and wide outside off, shuffles and can only hit this to sweeper cover
49.4
6
Kumar to Karunaratne, SIX, and now he's whipped one over the midwicket boundary! Hint of a helicopter shot to this! It's a missed yorker again, just outside off. He's walked into line, and bent down a touch, is a touch off balance, but has used very quick wrists to get under this and force it over
49.3
6
Kumar to Karunaratne, SIX, clears long-on! And Sri Lanka clear 250. Slower ball at a length just outside off. Not a great length, that. Karunaratne lines it up and swings cleanly on the up
49.2
2
Kumar to Karunaratne, 2 runs, yorker at leg stump, jammed down to long-on off the toe-end and they sneak a second. SKY's throw is headed for the stumps but a bad bounce takes it over
49.1
4
Kumar to Karunaratne, FOUR, whipped to the square leg boundary! It's an attempted yorker, and he misses marginally. Ends up a full toss on leg stump and he manages to get this past the fielder in the circle

Kumar: "you've got my statement wrong . Imagine a 14 member Super League with India ending up last and another 13 member league with India not being ranked. For the same performances, India would be relegated in one approach and not in another due to the shifting of goalposts" --- Ah, yes, I did misinterpret your statement. Point taken. I suppose one of the principles behind the system is that revenue would suffer in a World Cup without the host nation playing.

HH Pandya to Chameera, 2 runs, short and at the stumps, creates room again and gets this pull to deep square's right

He is upright, not fazed, and ready to go again.

HH Pandya to Chameera, no run, pings off the helmet as he swings at this. An offcutter climbing at off stump and he's through the shot early. Deflects to short third
48.4
6
HH Pandya to Chameera, SIX, smokes over deep midwicket! Slower ball, sitting up at leg stump, and he's backing into the legside to create room. And he uses that room to muscle this a long way
48.3
4
HH Pandya to Chameera, FOUR, they find the boundary at last. Good length and at middle and leg stump, right in the arc for the slog across the line, and he gets it over midwicket
