3.50pm Well, that was all deeply odd. Fire basically went at a run a ball for the first 50, and two runs a ball for the next 50, against a Rockets attack that frontloaded with seam, but opted against changing their lengths when Fire started to attack. Sam Cook was the pick with 2 for 17, after his brutal treatment against Invincibles the other night...

Cook: "Good to get back out there with ball in hand, nice to get a couple of wickets. Tennis-ball bounce, got easier to bat, they hit the pockets but we've got quality batters. Powerplay is a great place to attack."

DaWolf: "I don't understand captaincy. Sam Cook bowls well, takes 2/17 from 15 balls. Doesn't bowl out."

Stoinis to Kohler-Cadmore, OUT, slower ball, blazed out to deep midwicket... looked to be out of the ground, but Holden clung on well, and lobbed the ball back into play to guard against the stumble into the boundary rope. Here endeth the innings

Stoinis to Green, 1 run, flipped off the full length, up and over short fine... good contact but Banton gathers on the bounce. 150 up

2
Stoinis to Green, 2 runs, fired into the blockhole, thumped to long-on, they push for the second as the shy goes wide, could have been three with a double over-throw... but Green on strike is the upshot

Stoinis to Green, 5 wides, oh dear, that's village from Rockets... a poor leg-side delivery, and a failure from Moores to gather... five free runs

Stoinis to Green, FOUR, steps across to off after a shuffle to leg... Stoinis was flummoxed, and Green punished the short ball with a slam through backward square

Stoinis to Green, FOUR, makes room to leg, clattered up and over deep cover! Levers and placement! Bosh!

Matthew: ""Fire self-immolate." How long have you been hanging onto that one!" To be fair I've used it in pretty much every Fire fixture, men and women's, since 2021

Ferguson to Kellaway, OUT, attempts the ramp, that's too full and straight, and pace off too... off stump pegged back and this weird old innings takes another dip
