- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR2.6 climbing through, feathers an edge, Rabada strikes! Too good for Lees, who was sticking to the stated mantra of positivity but ended up playing a loose waft outside off. Tight line, maybe seamed away a fraction, rather then coming back in, and Lees' attempted back-foot force is his undoing 6/18.5 gottim this time! Crawley being worked over on off stump, and again he is found wanting. Good ball, wobble seam so it just nips rather than swings lavishly, finds the outside edge and presents Markram with a low catch at second. There's a roar of delight, quite possibly from Dean Elgar, as Rabada makes a second incision 25/236.2 chopped on, Pope runs out of rope! Full length in the channel and he has a dip, but only succeeds in dragging the ball flush into his leg stump. That's the one SA wanted, third wicket of the innings for Rabada. Applause for Pope as he trudges off, but England really needed him to hang around for a bit longer 134/713.5 hits on the pads, given! Is this one clipping?? Root doesn't take long to review, but this is going to be tight. Pitched up and shaping a good way back as he began to fall to the off side - struck in line, shaving the leg stump, and Root is a goner! Huge wicket for SA, Jansen strikes at the top of the second hour 42/316.3 knocks him over! This was bowled from slightly wide on the crease, it was full around off, swung in a tad as Bairstow looked to drive on the up, it burst through the gate to rattle middle and off stump. Perfect delivery to Bairstow who has a tendency to leave a gap between bat and pad 55/425.6 edged and taken! What a finish to the session for South Africa. Length and angled in from around the wicket, squared Stokes up as he looked to play slightly leg side, the ball straightened after pitching and induced an outside edge into the slips, where it was safely pouched 100/531.4 off stump pinged! Nortje has a third... Foakes is slumped at the crease, maybe suggesting it stayed down. But either way, it came back in with the slope, ricocheted off the inside edge and poleaxed the stump. The rain can't come soon enough for England here 116/638.5 slower ball, and Broad is suckered! Full and wide, he stretches to connect, but lobs a simple catch to Elgar at point. Slightly anticlimactic, given the tactics to Broad tend to be of the nose-and-toes variety. But Rabada slips in a change of pace and Lord's falls silent as England's happy slapper departs 145/843.6 splut! Off stump demolished! Full length and swinging initially before hitting the seam and going straight down the Bakerloo Line into the timber. Leach was aiming an extravagant drive but ended up sitting on the Piccadilly, and heading back to the dressing room 164/944.6 full and skidding into the pads - Rabada gets his five-fa! Although it looked a touch leg side and Anderson reviews. No danger of Rabada being denied his spot on the honours board, though, as this has pitched in line and would have careened into leg stump. Warm applause as he leads his side off, this has been a consummate bowling display to start the series for SA 165/10Extras8 (b 1, lb 7)TOTAL165 all out (45 Overs, RR: 3.66)Fall of wickets: 1-6 (Alex Lees, 2.6 ov), 2-25 (Zak Crawley, 8.5 ov), 3-42 (Joe Root, 13.5 ov), 4-55 (Jonny Bairstow, 16.3 ov), 5-100 (Ben Stokes, 25.6 ov), 6-116 (Ben Foakes, 31.4 ov), 7-134 (Ollie Pope, 36.2 ov), 8-145 (Stuart Broad, 38.5 ov), 9-164 (Jack Leach, 43.6 ov), 10-165 (James Anderson, 44.6 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR22.3 bowled him, off the forearm and behind his legs! A real moment of fortune for England, and it finally brings the breakthrough. Anderson roars in celebration, but even in his 20-year professional career he won't have got many out like that. Elgar walks off shaking his head... he was looking to work off his pads, it clipped the thigh guard and then bobbled back off his right arm, Elgar unable to do anything about it as the ball trundled gently into middle and leg stump 85/154.2 head-hunting bouncer, gloved behind! That's a ripsnorter from Stokes, and Erwee has been crowbarred from the crease! He knew what was coming, but could do little about a ball zeroing in on his grille, other than throw the hands up. Punched into the air and Foakes settles under it for a comfortable catch. The skipper's short-ball barrage does the trick for England 187/437.1 edged and Bairstow snaffles the chance! Reward for Potts who had been troubling Petersen on that fourth-stump line outside off. A hard-handed push, on the up through the line, a regulation snick to third slip, and an uncomplicated waist-high take. England have an opening at last 138/245.1 gottim first ball, wafting outside off! Tossed up invitingly and spinning away, Markram could easily have had a sighter and left alone but some reflexive urge to feel bat on ball kicked in and he tickled an edge through to Foakes. Illingworth's finger goes straight up, and England have a third 160/356.2 bluffed him, trapped him... and given! Full length, scrambled seam and skidding back venomously to strike him on the knee roll. Rassie reviews but this looks a punt. Yep, there'll be no help from Hawk-Eye, which has the ball smashing into leg stump. Nitin Menon's decision stands (and he doesn't get many wrong). Two in as many overs from Stokes! 192/587.1 nicked him off, that'll do it! Tempter wide of the stumps and Jansen, who was eyeing a maiden Test fifty, reaches for a drive and edges tamely straight to second slip. Disappointment for the big man, but he's done a more-than-decent job for his side 318/962.2 there's the nick! Broad drags his length back, finds some nibble back into the bat, flicks the edge and Foakes does the needful! 100 Test wickets at Lord's for Broad, and now the game is truly afoot! 210/674.5 Short again, swished to midwicket, Potts plucks the offering! It wasn't the easiest take with the sun setting over the Grandstand, but Stokes strikes with the bouncer... as if it was all planned! A fine knock from Maharaj though, at a crucial juncture for his team 282/777.3 hoicked leg side,
over the leaping fielder... Oh My Broad! He's grabbed a blinder! Looked for all the world like Rabada's firm pull would clear Broad at wide mid-on, only for the veteran to stick up his right paw and pluck the chance from the sky! Another one for Broad's scrapbook of special moments, and England strike early 289/889.1 dropped... and caught! Bairstow is flat on his back, and England aren't celebrating. But he has held on at the second attempt and this innings is done. Regulation nick to third slip, YJB made a hash of it trying to take the ball in front of his chest, but he stuck out his left hand as the ball fell to earth and clung on 326/10Extras16 (b 1, lb 11, nb 3, w 1)TOTAL326 all out (89.1 Overs, RR: 3.65)Fall of wickets: 1-85 (Dean Elgar, 22.3 ov), 2-138 (Keegan Petersen, 37.1 ov), 3-160 (Aiden Markram, 45.1 ov), 4-187 (Sarel Erwee, 54.2 ov), 5-192 (Rassie van der Dussen, 56.2 ov), 6-210 (Kyle Verreynne, 62.2 ov), 7-282 (Keshav Maharaj, 74.5 ov), 8-289 (Kagiso Rabada, 77.3 ov), 9-318 (Marco Jansen, 87.1 ov), 10-326 (Lungi Ngidi, 89.1 ov)Bowling O M R W Econ WD NB JM Anderson 18 3 51 1 2.83 0 0 SCJ Broad 19.1 3 71 3 3.70 0 1 MJ Potts 20 2 79 2 3.95 1 0 BA Stokes 18 3 71 3 3.94 0 1 MJ Leach 14 3 42 1 3.00 0 1
- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR26.4 rips out another, nicked behind! Nortje looks a bit happier this time, and the SA players are cavorting around the Lord's outfield. Excellent line from round the wicket, 89mph/143kph and straightening just a fraction up the slope to graze the edge through to Verreyne. Lees goes for a nuggety 35, but England needed a lot more 86/57.3 that could be out! Looks for the sweep, and is trapped right in front by a sharp, flatter Maharaj delivery. Crawley considers a review, but Lees gives him no support. The replays don't make it look any better. Almost like a pre-meditated swipe across the line 20/111.6 length, a touch flat, and strikes him on the pad as he shapes to work it away on the on side. Loud appeal, but not given. South Africa review this! Doesn't seem to have hit bat. The question will be about whether it straightens enough to hit the whole of the stumps. Oh yes, it does! Fabulous bowling, and Pope is Maharaj's second victim in what has been an inspired spell of left-arm spin bowling just on the stroke of lunch! The bowler himself pumps his fist in jubilation. It must be said he himself wasn't too convinced about the appeal, but Elgar insisted on going upstairs 38/218.1 Root gone! Steered low to second slip! A big fat nick and Ngidi is fit to burst! Big wicket for SA, and it came from a regulation bit of line bowling. Angled in and shaping away, maybe left him down the slope and Root errs with a hard-handed push outside off. England lose their third, and the deficit is still three figures 57/324.3 gottim this time! Nortje finds his line, finds the right length, and nearly bursts a blood vessel celebrating! Slightly short outside off, 91mph/147kph heat and although Bairstow could probably leave alone, he's drawn into a push, which produces a thin edge through to Verreyne. SA converge on a Nortje, who is like an enraged bull, snorting and pawing the ground, then practically goring his captain as Elgar comes over to give him a hug 81/436.1 sensational catch by Maharaj at deep mid-wicket! Good length from Rabada and Stokes winds up from the crease and rifles in a hoick across the line. Maharaj swiftly moves to his left, sticks his hands out, and holds on to one that would almost definitely have slipped through for four on most days. South Africa are an inspired lot today. Rabada raises his arms in celebration. There's a hush around Lord's 146/926.6 short, wide and tickled through! Nortje has three... and he doesn't even like bowling from this end! Banged in, 92mph/148kph and Foakes fidgets at the ball while hanging back, sends a big nick through to the keeper. This Test is hurtling towards its conclusion 86/634.2 slower ball, and he drives this uppishly and straight to mid-off! Broad was backing away again, looking to go big down the ground, but just didn't get this off the middle. Elgar smiles after accepting the catch. Delightful cameo that takes Broad level of Lees for top score thus far 141/735.6 wild swing down the wicket, and he's on target with a full ball! Just a hint of nip back in along the slope, and it spreadeagles Potts' stumps as he misses it completely. Was looking to whack it down the ground, but it was clever bowling from Jansen. At good pace too. South Africa close in on what will be a satisfying win 146/837.4 full again, and on the stumps this time! No mistake this time. Anderson backs away a touch, and misses out completely. Strikes the base of the stumps, and Jansen lets out a roar as South Africa celebrate 149/10Extras15 (b 5, lb 7, nb 3)TOTAL149 all out (37.4 Overs, RR: 3.95)Fall of wickets: 1-20 (Zak Crawley, 7.3 ov), 2-38 (Ollie Pope, 11.6 ov), 3-57 (Joe Root, 18.1 ov), 4-81 (Jonny Bairstow, 24.3 ov), 5-86 (Alex Lees, 26.4 ov), 6-86 (Ben Foakes, 26.6 ov), 7-141 (Stuart Broad, 34.2 ov), 8-146 (Matthew Potts, 35.6 ov), 9-146 (Ben Stokes, 36.1 ov), 10-149 (James Anderson, 37.4 ov)
