11.20pm What a Test match, what a win for West Indies. And what a WTC cycle this has been, with one series to go (Sri Lanka vs Australia) before the final in June. So many wins for away teams, so many upsets, so many reminders that Test cricket is in excellent health if those who govern the game can see it and promote it as it needs to be promoted. Kraigg Brathwaite: On the win: "We haven't played in Pakistan for a number of years, but we haven't won here in a while, so to come here and do it as a young group is incredible." On being brave with the bat: "On this pitch, there's a ball with your name on it around the corner. We did that with the bat in the second innings, and it was good to see. It was a good experience. When you get on better pitches, you can have a similar mindset and it will help you in the long run." On Warrican: "He always says he's one of the best players of offspin in the Caribbean, it's good to see him get some runs. Him and Motie in the first innings really set the game up for us. He's been in and out for a long time, but he showed his class, and he's here to stay."

Shan Masood: On letting the lower order get away: "I think the only option left was to bring the fast bowler on and maybe have a crack. Yes, they batted well, but we have to learn too. It's been a habit [letting the lower order score runs], it happened in South Africa as well." On the pitches, whether a rethink is needed: "We've won three out of four Tests, but even in the game we've lost, on the first day we were in the position we wanted, even better maybe when we had them eight down. One bad performance can't have a domino effect. We still have to be brave and replicate conditions. Even when we fail, there are a lot of learnings. Now we realise as a team that one extra wicket, one extra partnership, can have a huge effect on the game." On whether these pitches should be replicated in domestic cricket as well: "100%. It's a game of all stakeholders. We should also appreciate the players for throwing themselves in the den without preparation. But I think domestic cricket also will be played like this. We won three out of four matches in these conditions, and we dominated the first hour of the first day here as well. It's very important." On batters embracing the challenge on these pitches: "We've seen encouraging signs, batsmen being proactive like Saud and Rizzy getting fifties. Even my fifty was off 60 balls, Babar played proactively as well yesterday. It's about realising that you might not get hundreds here, but even 30s and 40s contribute to winning situations. Kraigg Brathwaite was the ideal example yesterday."

Jomel Warrican is the Player of the Match, and the Player of the Series as well. On his batting: "I back my gameplan, once the ball is in my zone, I back myself to clear the boundary. I trust my defence as well, and my ability to rotate the strike." On his bowling: "Just the variation of pace and hitting the same length over and over. Consistency is the key to everything I do."

11.02am A mention for Tevin Imlach as well. Made his debut in this series, and was absolutely outstanding behind the stumps on incredibly difficult pitches for wicketkeepers. He spoke to the broadcasters in the morning, and he said this about his keeping: "Yeah, being able to see the ball first of all, I think that's very important, and being able to anticipate a bit because it is important to do a lot very quickly. So anticipate where it's going to be and try to move quick, be strong in your legs."

Sampath shares this gem too: "38 is the second-lowest total at the fall of seventh wicket in the first innings from which a team has gone on to win a men's Test. Lowest is 21 by England against Australia ."

Zayan: "Might be unexpected right now but even BD fans are happy right now, the series drawn means they finish over both Pakistan and West Indies in the WTC table."

10.48pm What a moment for West Indies. It's only their fifth ever Test win in Pakistan. Almost exactly a year since Gabba 2024. Their fast bowlers won that match, their spinners have done it here. This is a team with talent in all facets of the game, and we're seeing some massive results now. What a game for their spinners: Motie and Warrican scored runs in both innings, were the top two scorers in the first, and the two of them and Sinclair have outbowled Pakistan's spinners comprehensively, particularly in the second innings, where their lengths and lines were a lot more relentless, and their pace a lot more suited to this surface. Warrican finishes with incredible match figures of 9 for 70, and is the top wicket-taker in the series as well.

Our stats whizzes have been busy in the last few minutes: Sampath Bandarupalli informs us that the 69 wickets in this series is the most by spin bowlers in a two-match Test series, going past the 67 in the SL-WI series in 2021.

Deep Gadhia, meanwhile, tells us that Warrican's 19 is the most wickets by a visiting spinner in a two-Test series in Pakistan.

Dhananjay: "Surely Warrican for player of the series - 85 runs @ 42.5 and 19 wickets @ 9!"

Siva: "This defeat also showcases how difficult it is to maintain home dominance consistently even if its achieved by creating tough pitches. Chances of backfiring are much more, and a reason why India were so successful for so long is their spinning all-rounders providing batting depth. That is the area Pakistan will need to look hard at if they are going to take this way forward."

Ahsan Baig: "This match is reminiscent of the Karachi Test in 2006. Irfan Pathan took a hat-trick in the first innings, leaving Pakistan reeling at 39 for 6. However, a lower-order recovery and a strong bowling performance eventually gave Pakistan a narrow 7-run lead. Pakistan went on to win that match."

Kazim: "Disappointing display of batting by the Pakistani batsmen. The seniors need to step up on such a difficult track and PCB needs to rethink their strategy for the pitch selection."

Sameer Okaz: "Pakistan started 2025 with a bang and again back to normal UNPREDICTABLE way loosing from winning positions.. get ready for another roller coaster of a year ahead fans.. credit to WI tailenders!"
