11:33am Not quite the sort of morning session Pakistan would have had in mind. Rizwan fell relatively early, and Pakistan lost three wickets without adding to their total (for the second time in the innings). Salman, though, hung around, but unfortunately for Pakistan, the other lower-order batters did not, meaning he eventually perished trying to get to his hundred and in trying to take Pakistan past 400. Prior to that, his partnership with Rizwan rescued Pakistan from a slight spot of bother, with Imam's 93 and Masood's 76 being the tone-setting hands earlier in the innings.

South Africa were not very consistent yesterday, but will be pleased with their toil today. Muthusamy bagged six, and played a major role in the two mini-collapses Pakistan had. Harmer bowled well but without luck, with Subrayen also recovering decently after a tough opening session yesterday. Rabada was not shabby either. 378 might feel less, considering where Pakistan were at the start of play, but on a surface that is spinning and bouncing, it could be a very handy total. Join us in about ten minutes for South Africa's reply.

Subrayen to Agha Salman, OUT, holes out to wide long on, and Salman gets dismissed for the first time in the nineties in Test cricket! Pakistan bowled out for 378, despite being 313-5 at the start of day two! Hung up on a length wide outside off, asking Salman to come down the track and fetch it. He tries his best and gets a decent chunk of it too, but because he was dragging it across the line, he does not muster enough power. Muthusamy settles himself right on the fence and takes the catch in front of his face to add the punctuation mark to this Pakistan innings!

Good to go again

Looks like Verreynne copped a blow on the right thumb. Might have gone past the webbing and hit him flush on the tip, and that will not tickle

Subrayen to Agha Salman, no run, darted in full and wide. Salman misses it and that is too hot to handle for the keeper too. Thankfully for SA, it does not loop back onto the helmet stationed behind Verreynne

Subrayen to Agha Salman, no run, steps down again but is nowhere to the pitch of this ball on leg stump. Salman misses his flick, and the ball dribbles off the pad into the on side

Subrayen to Agha Salman, no run, pulls the length back outside off after seeing the batter advance. Salman has to adjust and plays all over it in the end, getting pinged on the body

Right. How does Salman play it now? His trust in Shaheen was not unwarranted, but the pacer did not quite pay him back well. Will he trust Hasan now, or will Salman try and sneak in as many runs as possible?

Muthusamy to Hasan Ali, no run, phew! Fizzed through on a fullish length just outside off. Drifts in and then grips in the surface to rag away sharply past the outside edge

Muthusamy to Shaheen Shah Afridi, OUT, oh dear - that is an agricultural hack, and Shaheen falls! Shaheen will not want to watch replays of this. Muthusamy drags the length back outside off, perhaps sensing the charge. Shaheen hares down the track anyway and swings like a rusty gate. Misses it completely and the ball, spinning sluggishly, rattles into the stumps. Pakistan nine down!

Some disturbance behind the bowler's arm. But we are good to go now

Subrayen to Shaheen Shah Afridi, no run, full on the stumps. Holds a little in the surface and Shaheen drives it slightly uppishly towards mid on

Waleed Khan: "Can't understand what's stopping Salman from going all-out attack?" -- He has reason to trust Shaheen and to ensure things keep ticking along for now, rather than risk getting out going for quick runs.
