6pm: Sensible call from Australia, given the potential for weather to affect the rest of this Test. They've got 400-plus on the board and will now get around 20 minutes at England's openers - and who knows, maybe the middle order, too - tonight. Cummins is already out in the middle limbering up. Time to find out if this SCG surface is really as placid as Ussie and the gang made it look...
"Starc averaging 75.5 with the bat this series!" whoops Chops. Nice little red-inker for him
"Alan, do you reckon the openers will survive tonight?" Put it this way, Pranav. I won't be putting my life savings on it
"Is it compulsory that England bat?" warbles Simon. "I don't think it is going to be pretty." Forfeit both innings?
"This attack in Brisbane and I think the result would have been different..." Story of the tour for England, Nazim. Wrong selection, wrong tactics. Wrong trousers, most likely

My colleague Sampath notes that Stuart Broad is the oldest visiting pacer to take a Test five-fer in Australia since Richard Hadlee in 1987. He's edged out Anderson's Adelaide five from 2017-18, in the process
"I think if Australia declare and bowl now, the follow-on can be enforced in the morning," chuckles Steve. Or maybe he's making a serious point, I don't know
Will Starc have a bit of a thrash now...?
