10.15pm Paarl Rocks move to third in the table with a clinical 32-run DLS win in this rain-shortened T9 game. Henry Davids lead the way with the bat, cracking a 25-ball 46 as they reached 98 for 2. The total was adjusted to 113 for Durban Heat, but they lost Hashim Amla to the first ball of the innings and half their batsmen before four overs had been bowled. Paarl's bowlers kept things tight throughout, securing what could be a very important bonus point in the process.
"It was very nice," says Player of the Match Henry Davids. "There were a lot of disruptions, but everything went well after the breaks. Wanted to keep our intensity very high. We knew we had to go out and swing. Momentum is a big thing in a tournament like this. Every team needs to pitch up on the day."
"The scans I had done showed no fractures, just bone bruising," says Durban Heat captain Albie Morkel, who copped a fierce blow to the wrist in his last game. "To chase 113 in nine overs, on the night it was just too much. All credit to them, they outplayed us tonight. We're going on the road now, and play five games in the next 10 days or so. But it suits us to play back to back games now, to get into the rhythm of playing. We've got the personnel to turn it around."
"T20 cricket is about finding a little momentum, so with back to back games coming up this win was important," says Paarl Rocks captain Faf du Plessis. "You also want to show teams you can win away from home. The great thing about everyone performing is you don't rely on one or two players. Moreki bowled really well tonight. Bonus points are very, very important in tournaments like these. There are a lot of teams on similar points, so a bonus point is almost like another win."
And that's all from us tonight. From Shashank Kishore, and from me Liam Brickhill, goodbye.
Paarl need to keep Durban to under 90 to secure a bonus point
44 to win in the final over, and the game is as good as gone. But 21 will deny Paarl the bonus point ...
